Weed in Australia

Discussion in 'Marijuana Stash Box' started by matsukage, Nov 4, 2009.

  1. Hi kinda new to this forum and was wondering if there were any other australian smokers, if so where in australia do you live and what is the going rate for marijuana cuz where i am, brisbane the set rate in my area is like 25 bucks for a 1.5 grams and an ounce goes for about 350-450 bucks which pisses me off .

  2. Victoria, regional town.

    $20 a gram or "stick" and $280 - $320 oz.

you shouldn't be paying anything over $350 an oz anywhere.

  3. buy it in quarters (referring to quarter ounces, an ounce is 28 grams so a quarter of that should weigh 7 grams) which should cost you $90
A 50 would be less than half that, maybe 3grams
A 20 is (usually) a stick measured by the eye, so its definitely the least efficient way to buy.

  4. SA prices for the last 6 years:

    $25 for a bag (2.5 grams)
Could be 'flat' which means its only 2 grams, and looks flat.

    60-75 a quater
    120-150 for a half
    200-250 for an Oz.

No variation in price for "shwag" or "dank", neither of those terms are used or common, prices are set, and if your unlucky enough to have to buy pot, what you get is random quality.

  5. fuck weed prices in australia is messed up id have to say we have it really bad down here New zealand prices arent that high either and in papua new giunea weed is cheaaper than ciggarettes:( why is it so high?

  6. To be honest with you, I don't think its too bad.
But I think its 'so high' because its so harshly illegal in most places... enter the blade from SA His prices are lower because they have partial legalisation, you can grow a couple(?) of plants for personal use.
The reason it isn't hella cheap is this partial legalisation has made it a little easier for cops to bust big operations, so the economy of scale for growers is kept (relatively) small. Besides, if people will pay it, why reduce the price? Most (many) growers aren't the type of kind-hearted souls found on GC...

  7. I actually prefer the prices in melbourne, I've never bought propper weight there before, jut small bags when i travel there for concerts (Alot of bands skip SA for somereason)

The good thing about melbourne is you can actually say 'i want a bag of the stickiest gear please', or 'I'll be happy with a fat bag of regular stuff', and then you pay extra for quality stuff

In SA its litrially random, and you cant haggle, which sucks. So when someone has Really sticky stuf, it sells out quick as people find out.

  8. I've got the stickiest gear in brisbane. :smoking:
If you're struggling for gear in S.E. Qld you just drive to nimbin for the world's most perfect bush anyway...

  9. damn all the bags i get here are usually random sometimes my stoner mates dealer reccomends some good shit though.

nimbin aye lol just checked google maps and its a 4hour drive from where i am :( maybe ill tell the boyz about this nimbin and we can take a road trip there lol.

whats so good about it? price quality, quantity?

  10. It has a huge population of stoners, and some of the best geurilla growers in Australia.

One of my old friends that tought me how to grow outdoor and pick spots came from there.

I think most people that post about Nimbin will probably mention that they're all Unwashed, dreadlocked hippys... which pretty much somes them up.

They also have a few Pot festivals aswell, parades, etc, but i think the police cracked down on those in the last few years.

You can pretty much sum it up as "nimbin is the highest concentration of stoners in Australia"

  11. Joe my friend, with all due respect, Nimbin is far more splendid than you give it credit...
Whilst it is 4 hours from big city Brisbane, it won't seem that far. The drive is a beautiful tour through splendid forests, up mountains to stunning vistas and the best part is... a wonderland of weed awaits you...

Legally, there seems to have been a truce declared. The cops in charge are the NSW police and this is the absolute furthest north part of that state. As such, they don't really seem to give a fuck. The dude in the 'weed bar' was saying something about less than a half ounce is a 'cautionable amount' so there seems to be some kind of legal loophole happening here. While this won't hold up if you get pulled over stoned outta your head in the area, its about as legal as weed can be in practice without being legalised.

When you get there, take the time to walk up the street, looking in the shops (mostly headshops) and sit and have a coffee and maybe some cake.
I had a delicious dark chocolate and pumpkin cake last time I was there. Apparently it was vegan, but it tasted like real food!
A lot of dudes will offer you weed on the street, this is where the fun starts. I think there are actually a limited crew of dealers, and whoever gets you to buy gets a cut. So, here is where you need to make a decision. Buy from the kid who looks like a meth-head, help a brother out, OR buy from the guy who looks like he's in charge so you can get it all at once: weed, hash, shrooms etc.
Remember though, if you're there buying weed, they know you're a visitor so try not to be a dick. The headshop across the road from the 'museum' where most of the dealing happens, is the best spot to get everything else, especially the yummy cosmopolitan bluntwrap... yum.

The prices are 90 for a quart (unweighed) and its usually quite fluffy so you feel like you're buying a lot. There is a general disdain of hydro down there as their bush is so delicious. If you really want it though, they will have it. If you want shrooms, go there right after rain in spring or summer.
The best part is, you can detour back through Byron and offer some backpacker girls a lift to the goldy, dutch up your van and get crazy...

So, I may be biased but I would contend that Nimbin is a pretty fantastic little place...

I've never actually been there, but yes, its ment to be "holiday standard", great views (Alot of forests?), and the locals are more than friendly.
The generalisiations I made are really from meeting a few of my mums old hippy friends from there.

I've litrially only started growing hydro in the last Year, becuase of the amount of good things my friends around town have to say about it (pest control, tempreture control etc), but when i first learnt to grow, it was from a Nimbin Local who tought me about "waterboard" levels, organic nutrients, and most importantly, how to keep it stealth.

i deffiently got the vibe from him that hydro was something bad, a 'chemical cocktail' etc, he was EXTREMELY biased, but all of my Outdoor grows have been to his specs and i think ill deffiently keep my growing both, and keep stah's seperate; some of my mates are vegetarian, and enjoy organic grows, other friends ebjoy the hydro.

No need to alienate myself from either group picking sides, I'd prefer tohave the best of both worlds :smoking:

  13. my mum went to nimbin and said it was insane... walk down alleys and there is people sellin all diff weed and lettin you sample and shit... jus go into shops and say i want what ever amount... crazy shit... gonna go there for sure... i live near brisbane, sorta, but i just moved from sydney... down there we pay 20 for 1.2g 50 for 3g 70-90Q 150 half an ounce and 280-320 an ounce...

  14. and also my mother said cops were just driving around while people were smokin up so its pretty chill... and there was this festival thing on so pretty much everyone was tokin

  15. Do you weigh everything you get?
Because I don't, and most people I know don't. It seems like all the seppo's (americans) and everyone else for that matter weigh their pick ups really carefully.

Are me and my circle of peeps the odd ones out or is it an Aussie thing to go 'she'll be right' and figure you're getting a fair deal by the eye....

Sorry OP, I know its off topic, but I rarely see this many aussies on here...

  16. lmao she'll be right... but yes i think thats how we are with deals... but i bought scales now...

  17. yeah america is the home of capatalism so we tend to not trust dealers' sometimes. people get skimped alot in america.

  18. dont worry we get ripped off here to... but i wont anymore... especially when my harvest is done then i can smoke all the good free weed i want

  19. When you buy a half, or an Oz, you normally get more than you pay for anyway; to ask for it to weighed up is usually insulting, and from what i've seen theyll take back the bit extra once theve weighed it, or pack the bit extra into bongs and smoke it with you there and then.

Quaters are usually broken up amongst friends from an oz, and splitting it up by eye is tolerated; becuase your normally getting more than 28g when you buy an oz, even if your quater is slightly less than someone elses quater, your still getting more than a "true" quater anyway.

"bags" are a differently matter all together tho, as people are selling them in pubs and at partys to make abit of cash, or subsidise their own stash, so it depends how many bags theyre packing from one oz.
Thats why i mentioned "flat" bags in my ealrier post. Usually if people are looking for bags, the first thing people will mention is "oh, steves got bags atm, but theyre pretty flat' etc.

  20. that's what i plan to do. I'm in bris also but i don't mind. It's be good if we did have selection/cheaper but we don't so meh. just enjoy what you get.
