Reading Rainbow, one of my favorite childhood shows and one of the most loved and long running childrens education shows aired its last episode today.

It was started in 1983 and hosted by LeVar Burton. He always seemed like a chill dude.:smoke:

Part of the reason why it is ending is because nobody wants to keep funding it.

The other reason can be found in the change in priorities during the Bush admin.

I dont want to make this a political thing but, the change started with the Department of Education under the Bush admin., which wanted to see a much heavier focus on the basic tools of reading, like phonics and spelling.

For me, Reading Rainbow never "taught" me to read, or really read any better at that. But it taught me why to read and the love of reading.

So I sadly play one more time another past childhood memory.:(
