I was under the impression that this would not affect cigars or wraps, and was strictly about cigarettes/cloves/whatever the fuck.

EDIT: Ok, so it sounds like cigarettes will be immediately regulated, and cigars/pipe tobacco will become regulated later in time.

    Excerpt:

    2. The law amends Section 201 of the FDCA (21 U.S.C. 321) to add the following definition of “tobacco product” -- “any product made or derived from tobacco that is intended for human consumption, including any component, part, or accessory of a tobacco product (except for raw materials other than tobacco used in manufacturing a component, part, or accessory of a tobacco product.)” While not subject to immediate regulation, cigars and pipe tobacco are included in this definition, but only cigarettes, ryo cigarette tobacco and smokeless tobacco are immediately regulated.

  4. I'm going to try and look at this optimistically. This IS a pretty radical bill. Maybe he'll be this liberal about decriminalizing/legalizing marijuana. Wishfull thinking .

  5. yeah soo basically they lower the nicotine, keep the extra shit, so you've got to smoke MORE of them to be satisfied.
this means more cigarette sales (to make up for who ever stopped buying packs after the tax hike) and more inhalation of BS so more deaths and cigarette related illness. great for the gov:)

Meh i stopped with the blunt wraps awhile ago. after awhile they all start smelling and tasting the same and i cant help but think as im smoking it that the extra flavoring cant be good burned and inhaled. gimme a regular swisher sweet and im gewd.

Its just the same tho, it will make it harder to come by unless you seek it online. Regulating makes it expensive/inconvenient for locations to carry and supply them so you may not see them disappear completely but you will for sure see a price raise and bigger warning labels

  6. i'm not trying to bastardize my weed by rolling it up in one of those goofy purple haze blunt wraps or grape cigars anyway. i can deal with a garcia y vega on rare occasion but it seems like all cigars these days have some sort of artificial flavoring or burning agent in them. gross.

  7. Wow, that man really knows how to make a change.. Banning flavored tobacco? What a waste of resources. What a waste of paper (the piece he wrote the law on). There are way better ways of keeping people from smoking cigs than that; I don't think flavor makes a difference for a first time smoker. If anything flavor makes it a more gross experience.. I've had mango tobacco and chocolate tobacco and both were gross as hell.

  8. i think the point is these flavors are created to target the kids (kids love candy!) thats why blunt wraps have more flavors than any candy out there. so banning them SHOULD keep kids from smoking.

But what i cant help but think is, they dont really give a sh*t about our youth, so what are they REALLY gaining from this ban? something good for sure..

I think if they really didnt want people smoking, they would ban tobacco period instead of lowering the dose of nicotine. everything just tells me, these guys WANT more people addicted and they want more deaths.

why else would they lower the nicotine, but keep the harmful chemicals the same level? so people need to smoke more harmful shit to be satisfied..

People actually like smoking those nasty flavored atrocities?!?
Those "flavors" are purely artificial and chemical and are disgusting.
They should have been baned a long time ago based on those grounds alone.

To all you people screaming about how ridiculous it is to ban these "flavors", why don't you all go buy regular blunt wraps, wipe your asses with them, and smoke those? They'd be healthier and would taste better too, plus you would save money on toilet paper. Peace.

  10. You are missing the whole point of this new legislation. This creates more government control which is a BAD THING. It doesn't matter if flavored tobacco is hated by some and loved by others. There are a number of flavored tobaccos that I do not care for, but it is not the governments business to try and "protect" our children.

I see this as a step backwards in trying to get marijuana legalized honestly.

I supported him at first but now: Fuck Obama! Maybe by some slim chance he will actually become the president he promised to be.

  11. "CHANGE HAS COME" why the hell would he say that about candy and fruit flavored tobacco? Don't worry guys tobacco companies will always find a technicallity with the bill. They may label all your grape, peach, strawberry cigars with different names like Blue, Yellow, Pink cigars.

  12. um suprised no one cares about chicha

  13. Damn, no more grape phillys I guess. I hope they dont make them take the flavor out of dip as well then Id be really pissed regular flavor is freaking nasty!

  14. Obama: Yes we can!!

Werd. Swipe your federal ID card at McD's to get a Big Mac meal...."Oh sorry your blood pressure is too high, can we offer you a side salad instead?"

People don't smoke flavored blunt wraps because they have poor-tasting weed, they smoke flavored blunt wraps because they want to smoke flavored blunt wraps. Since "better tasting weed" never truly tastes like grape or w/e, it's a solution to a different problem.

And no, I don't think the government should be telling ANYBODY what they can/can't do to their own bodies. If people want to smoke, fuckin let them. If you want people to get guidance on how to stay healthy, then guide them on how to stay healthy. Banning flavored tobacco isn't going to do a goddamned thing to make anybody any healthier. The intentions may be honorable (dissuading kids from smoking), but this is NOT the way to do it.

And sitting here and bitching is what we do when we're pissed off about our government enacting stupid, bullshit laws we don't want. So don't sit there and bitch about other people taking issue with asinine government policies.

Only if he got a 2nd term. The way he's going, we may have a new President in 2012, and I can't wait. Then again, it will just be the same old story, people being fucking idiots and voting Republican only because the previous guy was Democrat  Yeah, let's worry more about the letter after his name than the guy himself, THAT will get us a great President!

Also, as I always do, I have to point out that Obama doesn't write legislation. No President does. Only Congress writes laws. Yeah, Obama set forth the policy, but if Congress didn't write the laws, they wouldn't be in place for Obama and the rest of the Executive branch to enforce. Basically, if you want something to actually change, vote out of office the asshat Congressmen who vote yes on stupid shit legislation like this.

  16. Fixed for accuracy.

  17. How is this constitutional at all?? What the heck? Even though I'm not an avid tobacco user this is ridiculous. Kids don't start smoking because they taste like candy or fruit. Its to try it or to fit in. And if they do end up liking the flavor isn't that up to them. This is so wrong in so many ways.

For the people saying, who likes flavored tobacco anyways, you guys don't realize it just starts here? Government regulations will just expand and monitor and 'protect' until were either socialist or communist

  18. The people can't see the forest for the trees. Simple as that.

  19. FDA. Only partially Obama.
