Thought I'd start off by giving an idea of my experience growing or lack there of. Don't want to let anyone down by misleading them into thing I'm a Shantibaba. This will be my 4th indoor grow. Started growing a few years ago. Did a number of outdoor grows and switched to indoor. Love hazes/pure sativa and hybrids. I will try and make this as coherent as possible.

Soil: Growing in 1.5 gal 5x5x10 bags
15 gal Peat
9 gal Perlite/Lava Sand
6 gal Alfalfa-Fed Horse Poop
3.75 cups Egg Shell Meal
4 cups Miracle Grow Bone Meal(high in insoluble nitrogen)
4 cups Banana/Cantaloupe Rind Meal (potassium and trace minerals)

Seedling Tea

1 gal distilled water
1/4 Cup Alfalfa Meal
1 tbsp Molasses

Flowering Tea
1 gal distilled water
1/4 Cup Alfalfa Meal
1 tbsp Molasses
1/4 Cup Cave Bat Guano

Lights
400 Watt Hps
2 60 watt Mega-Ray Zoo EB uvb at 550 µw/cm2 (Haleakala, Mauii, Hawaii)

Misc
5 gallon jugs of yeast/sugar
12 inch fan

What you are looking at

  • The first pic is of an Alaskan Ice. It is 4 weeks old and in day 7 of flowering. No problems with her so far, more white widow influence than her sister.
  • Next is my second Alaskan ice. She is very sativa dominant so I tied her down. This is the first time I've seen branches grow 2 inches in one day. She already has a strong aroma like spice and skunk.
  • The third pic is one of Mega Ray Zoo mv bulb. I like to force my ladies to protect themselves by mimicking the uvb index of Hawaii. I know it is not just placebo because the results are almost immediate. If you want to enhance your grow with uvb, this bulb has no replacement.
  • Number for is a LR2 I rescued from a friend. Shes doin better but I don't expect more than 4-5 grams. She smells like chocolate.
  • Utopia Haze seedling, I have great expectations for her.
  • A quick shot of my grow closet. Notice the yeast jugs with straws aimed at the stomatas.

I am germinating the El nino, Arjan Haze 3 and NL5 Haze mist. I will post picks once they have all sproted. My plan is to get 15 sprouts to add to my grow room totaling 21 plants stuffed into a 42 x 22 inch closet.

Expectations
My last grow, I grew 20 1.5 gal plants and havested 502 grams dry :hello:. This time I am shooting for 20 ounces. Also, I like to water cure all my trimmings and leftovers for 1 week. Then I soak them in isopropyl to make pretty good hash.

Well that's it for now. Sugestions? Questions?

I like the line up. Got some GH genetics myself.

What does the uvb light do for the plants?

Well, some people claim that it stresses the plant and forces it to defend itself with more resin. Others argue that it only speeds the process of ripening. In my experience it really boosts the plants performance in all areas.

Thought I'd let you know that I have found pistils on both of the Alaskan Ice. Its starting to look like they might have good genetics, unlike some of the Alaskan Ice grows I've seen.

Here are a few pics while we wait for the last seeds to sprout. Got 100% germination, now I'm praying for 100% females. In a few picks the plants look like they are yellowing. They are all very green and healthy. By the way, I use my finger to help my cheapo camera focus on the foreground. I know it's a little obnoxious.

Here is the overdue update. These pics are of last week. The utopia hazes and alaskan ice are at week 5 of flowering. The GH genetics are all in week 2.

For the most part everything is going smoothly. I did find 1 male El Nino and one has wierd mutant cabage leaves. I also got an attack of mold, but now it's under control. I also have a few yellow spots that I don't know the cause of on a few leaves.

The NL#5 Haze mist is very stretchy. It's stretchier than any of the other plants by far.

The smell of the Utopia Haze varies from plant I being spicy and piney to an incense smell in plant II. All of them have a Xmas tree structure with long branching buds.

I also worked the LR2 into 680 µw/cm2 and now I have to clean my microscope after every time I check the trichs . The smell is like a mix of fruity fragrances with chocolatey undertones. I severly underestimated this plant. However, I'm not expecting more than 5 grams off it because of it's previous home.

I have planted a Mazaar I Sharif to replace the male El Nino, it flowers in 8 weeks so I will still be one schedule.

Thats it for now, be back with more updates next week.

WTF I found another male el nino. I'm glad I got regularseeds at feminized prices. Looks like I'll be replacing a few el ninos with Mazar I Shariff freebies.

Here we are in week 6 for the alaskan ice and 5 for the utopia haze.

Pictures
1. Shot of my grow closet. A lot of sativas in there.
2. Alaskan Ice S - Very slow growing. It is covered in deep red hairs.

3. Uptopia Haze I and Alaskan Ice I - They are both absolutely frosted. They are under the UVB buld and are doing very well. The main cola on the Utopia is super denss while the lower branches have very long pistils.

4. Utopia Haze I Bud- this is the main cola.

5. Alaskan Ice I Bud - Just doesn't do it justice. The bud is white with frosty trichs.

6. Utopia Haze II and III- On the left is Utopia Haze II and it is the most sativa dominant of the Utopia Hazes. The Utopia on the right is starting to fill up a nice main cola.

7. Utopia Haze II Bud- Mouth watering buds that smell of spices and wood.

For the most part, I am very pleased with GH Seeds genetics. They are all ending week 3.

Pictures
1. NL#5 Haze Mist - She stretching without hesitation. I set her on a corner to encourage lateral branching. I highly doubt this plant will finish in 10 weeks of flowering.

2. More stretchy NL#5 Haze Mists.

3. Arjan Haze #3 - These plants have a very unique, almost mango bubble gum, type of smell. Deep purple streaks up stems and a nice ratio of branching to height. They have performed amazingly for my grow setup. These plants are outstandingly uniform.

4. El Nino and Mazar I Sharif seedlings- The El Nino are growing to damn slow and look like crap. I will never grow this strain again. on the other hand, the Sharif are doing nicely.

5. This pic does not truly capture how beautiful this lowryder 2 is. She is 2 weeks past due, but it could be a growing issue and not her fault. She is about 95 percent cloudy and there are a few amber trichs present. I'll chop her in one week and let the bottom branches mature another week after that. Smells like mocha and skunk, very pungent.

Thanks for the Utopia Haze pics. I was disappointed when I looked at them. They looked really small. Then I went back to see the grow setup information and I guess it made more sense. I don't really know, but I guess that is respectable for a 400 watt bulb.

Are they giving any trouble growing? I thought I could see different leaves with different situations. I wondered because I saw a Utopia that seemed to be trouble growing. The leaves would look funky when the leaves of other stuff around it were fine. The Utopia also seemed real slow to veg which is odd for a sativa. The thing just would not veg so the guy finally just put it in to flower at around 1 1/2 feet in height. Maybe it will stretch there.

I would be interested in more pics as it closer to the end and a smoke report.

Thanks

I can't say how well they veg. I put mine into flower from seed, that is also the reason why they are so small. The stretchier plant(Utopia Haze II), would have loved to out grow my closet.
