    Disclaimer:

Ok... so I I've done my reading and have some understanding the the finer points of growing.
But, alas I have no experience in growing said plants.

To be honest... I haven't burnt in probably over a month... oh well. It comes down to the fact I'm CHEAP, and refuse to pay 40 an eight. Honestly, for 20-30 an eighth for shwagg-middies I'd be down, but then again you don't get a shot at those deals unless you're actively involved in said hobby paying 40 an eight for middies.

I give this illustration to hightlight the fact that I have little money, hate spending it and will be using homegrown methodology whenever possibly. Plus, if you want to burn and are unwilling to pay... you grow, right?

Anyway, I am going to go on record to appologize for my rambling and asides. Also, for my inherent wordiness. Sorry, preface aside... on to the grow log.

*Questions I have will be in bold for ease of picking them out.

    First Grow-- indoor for now:

Ok, as the title states this is my first grow and it's taking place inside for now.

So, at the beginning of march my I ended up with four germinating bagseeds as a gift. They were above the soil like an 1 inch by March 8. I ended up culling one of them because of a nasty white spot on the one cotyledon, I assumed it was mold or something, scraped it off... and behold a hole eaten through the leaf... a cull indeed. And then I had three....

And I still have all three.

They are planted in home-mixed soil: native soil, a little lime, a few worm casing I scored at Walmart, a litte compost, and peat moss (Honestly, I would have to say that I'm not real thrilled with myself for using peat moss, but sometimes a little ethical leeway is neccessary).

They started in 3 in. pots and got what I deemed a little leggy so I tied them back through themselves (if that makes sense), then I transplanted them to 6" pots down to the first set of real leaves when roots first poked out of the 3 inch pots. Will the buried stems grow roots? I know indeterminate tomato varieties will.

They have been growing under a variety of light types though their lifes... all 24/0. They started under a 14w blue LED panel... I know that doesn't exactly fit my chronic cheapness I spoke of, but they use little electicity and will last like 7-8 years always on or something like that. Next, they lives under some t-5 3500K tubes. Then, it was real sunny for a week or so they would be on the window sill during the day and under a homebuilt hood with 2 salvaged 13W CFL (reddish) bulbs and ballasts at night. Lately, I've had them under a cheapo 2ft. t-8 (blueish) growlight from Walmart.

They have been fertilized every couple days with a couple teaspons of dilute compost tea when there were younger and now I've been watering them with a dilute solution of compost, a few used coffee grounds and willow brewed into a tea.

The above plant is stocky, compact and has minimal internode lengths. Hopefully, a female;).

This plant displays asymetric grow as currently seen in the leaves... 3 leaflets on one side and 5 on the other. The same is true for the next set of leaves coming in. It also has much larger internodes than the other plants.

This plant seems to be generally less vigorous... nuff said. Got to love the the bagseed.

I topped the two top plants a couple days later above the V3 growth, when it looked like there might have been enough to try to root the cutting.

I also scored four more bagseeds about a week ago. Stepped on one and the other three sprouted and are under are under the blue LEDs. Just a day ago I got another 9 seeds, four have since germinated and been planted and will show themselves soon enough.

That's really about it... my ultimate goal is to grow them indoors and transplant them out at the end of May. Between then and now, I'd like to take cuttings and root them and determine sex from the mother/father plants. So that I know what I'm planting out.

I have tried to root some cuttings from a friends vegetative plant and have had no luck... I've been using rooting powder and then putting the cutting in a little soil and keeping them moist... three are still not completely dead after 3 weeks. But no roots can be viewed through the transparent cup. Am I doing something wrong?

Right now I'm praying for ladies and hoping I can get this whole cloning thing to work.

    Peace and Planting

P.S. Can't wait to get to see my plants today:D.
