so i've owned several bongs over the years, but im just starting to upgrade in terms of my pieces. one of the ways im trying to do that is by getting gong stuff from now on. my question is though, can i change a gromment bong into gong just by buying a new downstem and replacing it? will that actually make an airtight seal in a gromment bong?

ya you get a gong downstem and put a gromet on it and esentially gromet seal the gong downstem into the bong so you can use gong bowls.

Depends.
Some grommet bongs have the regular 14.5mm or 18.8mm joint sizes, and just come with a rubber-stopper downstem stock, and some do not. I would suggest going into a headshop and testing your joint size with different downstems to see if it would work.
An alternative, if your bong is not a standard joint size, is to have a blower insert a standard joint onto your bong. This is what my dealer did, and it works fine.
