high to function.

  1. I've been smoking weed daily for about a year or so- waking and baking, at night to sleep, before tedious tasks, just to hang out, etc- and it's gotten to the point where I've been rolling bigger and bigger joints and becoming more functional and logical whilst 'high'.

It's been great and I've learned a lot about myself, the wonderful marijuana plant, and about life (sounds lame but it's true lol). After smoking on a regular basis and increasing my tolerance, obviously I surpassed the trip-out phase of smoking weed. Since I'm familiar with the feeling, I've become more mellow and rational and I love it. Even when talking to people, going to school and making decisions... it's as if my personality improved. I'm 20 years old so I guess it's that time for 'life exploration, self-discovery, etc etc' but nonetheless, I'll repeat myself, it's been a good time. And I stand by that... love weed.

Only thing is... I'm unable to financially support smoking copious amounts of weed lol (I'm in school, have a car, expenses here and there and I support myself financially for the most part) and my mom is very sketched out. She's overprotective and very strict and there has been numerous times she's found weed in my car, cigarettes all over the place, and smelt it off me.

I love smoking weed but I'm going on a break. I guess here in grass city I've seen it referred to as a tolerance break. The timing is good too since there are many life changes that I plan to make and taking a break off weed will be beneficial in a way..

This thread is long and may seem pointless and whoever read up to this point, well thank you, you're a good person lol.

How many of you smoke to function? like before tedious tasks like cleaning your room or whatever your daily errands entail. Like I always say, weed brightens my day. If I steer my mind into productivity when I smoke weed then I'll get so much more accomplished and I'll be content with everything lol. I get more into tune with myself, life, and whatever it is I have to do.

I've been practically relying on it, and I prefer to go about my day (or at least like an hour of it) high than not high. Also when I feel down, a perfect way to cheer up is to smoke some herb. But it got to the point where I wasn't sure I was smoking weed because I was bummed all the time or whether I was bummed out all the time because I was smoking weed... lol get it? I know, wierd... but now it's time for a break. Changes.

Is your life different when you're smoking weed versus your life not smoking weed? or for the regular tokers do you remember your life before you smoked? I dunno I just find it interesting to hear different perspectives and walks of life lol.

    Enlighten me :) :smoke:

  2. I smoke before I do anything, not to function, just because it makes everything so much more enjoyable.

  3. If you need weed to function, you really need a break. Cannabis is wonderful and all, but it cant be your life. And its not lame that you have learned a lot about yourself. As Bob Marley once said, "The herb introduces you to yourself" Ive done the same thing through meditation. Seriously, fuck therapists.

  4. yeah I agree with both of you. and I didn't mean to say I personally need weed to function but rather state the fact that some feel that they do. also thought it was appropriate for a title lol :p

while blazing with a couple friends the other night one of them was saying how he feels like he accomplished what he wanted with weed and was ready to move on. like in life and whatnot, life changes etc etc, blah blah. I just thought the different point of view was interesting.

its definitely a life and task and euphoric enhancing plant though :)

  5. Before I hated doing shit that was boring.

Now I smoke pot, and nothing is boring.

    I like doing everything now.

Even cleaning my room and mowing the lawn.

    Thank you Mary Jane.

    Happy Toking. :smoke:

  6. had your situation happen to me then I learned to grow now I am financially secure and my jars are never ending

anyone have an MJ sponsor? lmfao.

  8. I never get all-out stoned during the day because the little things I have to do during the day take too long while high. I'll start one thing and then lose my mind and start another task; sooner or later everything is done halfway and by then I don't want to do them any more. So I usually wait until the sun starts to sink before I light up.

As far as taking breaks, I don't find it too big of a deal. The first day of my break I keep thinking about smoking up, but by the next day I'm over it. My patience returns. And that's certainly 1,000% better than how my day goes when I take a tobacco break (ie, trying to quit and failing). That my friend is a bad day.

  9. wow that's awesome. I've always wondered how I'm going to support my habbit some day when I have to pay for bills and shit once I graduate college. Now I have been enlightened. as long as I work hard enough to support myself, I can grow my own and never have to worry about how to pay for it. I never really thought of that to be honest. THANKS YOU SIR! lol

smokemesilly ur post is basically the same lifestyle i have been living for 5 months now and really inspired me on how much i love the herb and how a break could be a really good thing

when i first started smoking it was amazing, new, and i would be ripped for hours. now that ive been daily toking for 5 months ive built up a tolerance and those highs last about an hour. dont get me wrong the highs are still great but not as they use to be. these past days ive been basically getting bored and sick of it and thats why im deciding to take a break as well.

taking a break is sooo hard when its such a daily habit throughout the day.

how long u takin a break for?

anyways good luck and wish me luck im going on 7 day break hopefully

  11. Yeah ya dont want to get to that point.

Ive been smokin weed for so long i dont even know how many years.

I used to be like that, I mean i like having enough weed at all times to smoke as much as i wish.

But i dont even like gettin high all day anymore.

If im working, I always get blowed before work jus because it makes my day aight, If i go in sober im fuckin antsy and pissed and its unenjoyable. If i go in high its all good and long after the buzz wears off i still feel mellow.

But you gotta find a happy medium.

I pretty much smoke before work and then after work when im chillin these days. Days off i try to get all my shiet done then if im jus gon chill ill smoke down, Or sometimes ill be up for 8-10 hours on my day off before i even start gettin high.

But i used to be real bad. Id have to take a couple three shots and smoke some jus to drive down to the corner store.

  12. i smoke because i enjoy the sedation, the clarity of mind, and the good times that it brings. i smoke because of the good vibes that ensue. i do not smoke to function, rather i DONT smoke to function. i mean i can discuss and write all i want while high, just i feel i can perform better and more efficiently without it. i would say without this habit my life would be better in some ways, but worse in others. there are adaptive tradeoffs for everything, really... going on breaks is VERY benefical. get your mind straight, get your life straight, and get your tolerance straight. not before too long you will realize that weed is merely supplemental to living life to the fullest, it all really comes from within.

  13. thats really helpful illadelphin. i feel what ur saying. i dont smoke weed to function and im sure smokemesilly didnt mean it in the way most pppl are putting it. its like getting high and doing things is so much more enjoyable than being sober and doing it and its hard to just not want to do it. but u do have to prioritize in ur life and NOT make it a function to live.

  14. Hahah I know what you mean. funny thing is, the whole finish-things-half way-start another-thing is just how I am. weed will help me focus on one task at a time all the way through until it's done. everyone's different right?

I agree with everyone here, you have to find a balance and a happy medium like KeepSmokinReefa wisely stated. I also agree with what KeepSmokinReefa said about being high all day, its not even that great. I think all weed smokers reach a point where we've experienced nonstop high days and it makes me appreciate sobriety and normal states of consciousness lol. like when I usually wake n bake for a while and then stop, its refreshing and gratifying for me, I get all grateful for life and my health and etc... weird huh?!

Yeah I think that 90% of GC has been through this whole ordeal haha. Then it becomes a regime that you develop for yourself since nobody knows you better than you! like your own personalized weed plan. I was also planning to take about a week break, haven't officially started yet because as I'm typing this I'm waiting for a call from some pals so we can venture out into the beautiful weather and love life lol (today's the first warm and sunny day in a long time here in toronto). Smoked a few times here and there throughout the week, I don't keep track, I just listen to my body. Just don't think about it (I know, easier said than done lol) but take up some hobbies or catch up on errands that you've been putting off. It will only be a shitty time if you let it to be, you have to look at it as a great opportunity and self-growth type thing... fuck I think I'm just super lame and get really deep into things sometimes hahah, but whatever works right?! If you're happy and content and moderated, its all that matters. feel free to pm me or whatever if you're having troubles.

    You're a wise man, pal.

you're right again haha I didn't mean it personally. I titled the thread that way because it seemed appropriate and again, I find different perspectives and people's stories interesting. and hopefully the title will attract a few smokers that do feel that they can't be without it.

this is a lateee assss reply haha and i don't really post on forums much buut...

I know what smokemesilly and KeepSmokinReefa are sayin haha. Lately i've been smoking like before school, after, and in the evening a another time or two depending on the day. I have been thinking about taking a break because all i do is smoke to get my shit done lol. I don't struggle in school at all hardly. I maintain a 3.3 avg GPA. But I always smoke to do my work and shit. But I also always smoke to just chill and relax when I don't have to do my work and shit. I am like a living high and it is just getting boring to me as to you guys.

Anyway, I was also wondering how your guy's break went and how long your breaks were.

Get back to me if you guys are still on earth in 2012!!!!
