Marijuana and Ulcers

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by ChronicBxR, Mar 26, 2009.

  1. Hey GC, I've got a stomach ulcer. It sucks big time. About every other time I eat anything I will get a stomach ache. Any one else in this boat?

Does weed seem to help you? because I've been looking it up online and it said that the smoke could irritate it but other people said that it helped them.

I need some suggestions because people keep telling me it's the weed, I half think that they're ignorant and half think that it the weed is not good for it.

    Help me! :)

  2. I got an ulcer about six months after I started smoking daily, but there is a history of it in my family and the doctor didn't seem too surprised that I had one. When I had the ulcer and then especially when I was taking the medication to get rid of it, I NEEDED weed to eat. My stomach hurt so bad normally... I know smoke isn't good for it, but there were days when I was dry that I just couldn't eat...

Sorry, that's not much help, but I was in the same boat.

  3. I have some condition (doctors don't know if its ulcers) where when I eat I get a stomach ache. Smoking weed helps me by easing my nausea, and it of course makes me hungry so I eat and it doesn't bother me. If it wasn't for weed, I'd probably be underweight and malnutritioned.

  4. I have acid reflux, gastritis and a bunch of stomach problems and if it weren't for weed I wouldn't be able to go on and do my daily activities. Weed helps my stomach pains alot, and I can actually eat with out feeling like I'm going to throw up/constipated.

    Love you weed! <3

  5. Haha I totally agree with all of you. When high I eat a lot and no stomache pains so all is good right?

In the morning I usually feel really shitty though, as if I've had to much to eat.

    Thanks for the reassurance. :)

  6. Well...there is one way to find out if it is the smoke or not. Make some brownies or thc oil or something to take orally. If your stomach pain goes away...then you know it is from the smoke :)
    Hope that helps a little!

  7. I have a big stomach problem too...

i cant hold down more than an extremely small portion without feeling very sick sometimes throwing up

    then i smoke..

and i can go threw a 1 pound tub of mashed potatoes and still be hungry...

  8. I have never had an ulcer so i cant speak from experience, but hey, why dont you give hemp oil a shot. According to Rick Simpson, if you swallow some hemp oil that ucler should be gone in a few days.

  9. Haha, I would if I had the time and resources.

As for the brownies I don't think I'd ever have enough money to get enough nug for the brownies.

I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow, we'll see what he says :)

  10. Smoking weed or cigarettes cause the sphincter in your esophagus to relax and lets the acid splash up your esophagus causing acid reflux or heartburn, which is directly related to ulcers.

I recently went to the doctor about my somach problems. I have acid reflux. I picked up a book about it, and read it today in class lol. Smoking was a big thing, but I believe it was directed towards smoking cigarettes, cause one would smoke cigarettes more often than joints or a bong or what have you.

In the morning if I have some acid comming up my throat I usually get baked and I can tolerate it until it passes. Hope this helps.

  11. I had a stomach ulcer that came from stress I had while in high school and living with shitty parents. I had it before I even started smoking weed.

It was the same thing that I couldn't eat without feeling extreme pain in my stomach for the rest of the day. I couldn't really find anything to permently get rid of the pain, so I sort of got use to having stomach pain and just not eating much.

When I was 20 I tried weed for the first time. And soon after I started smoking it every day. I didn't realize at first, but after about a month or so I realized I didn't have ulcer pain anymore. It was amazing. And it wasn't that I was just smoking the pain away, because even when I don't smoke for a few days I don't feel any pain.

So did the weed just help me chill out, be less of a stressed person? Maybe. Did the weed actually help the ulcers go away? Probably not... but it didn't make them worse... at the time when the ulcer was still bad smoking weed helped it feel better. And now I don't have an ulcer anymore!

  12. Marijuana helps my stomach feel better when its feeling a bit uneasy or when I am nausea, I'd say give smoking a try before you eat and maybe after too and see if that helps :D

Cannabis does improve appetite (and I got a passle of studies to prove it). It reduces stress. ( well :smoke: duh!) And it helps regulate the digestive system. I lumped most digestive problems together under "Crohn's" in my list, in case you are interested in a few studies. I haven't seen any studies on ulcers and cannabis. :D Thank you! You just gave me a new subject to look for! :D

Dudes- all of you NEED to read this! http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hpylori/

Bottom line- Some ulcers are caused by a nasty "bug", H. pylori. A bottle of the right antibiotic can kill the little buggers and your ulcer heals naturally. :hello: Now read the article!

    Granny

  14. sounds like what you have is an ulcer, i smoke everyday with my ulcer, definetly helps the pain, the morning is a bitch though. im going back to the doctors office today though because im having hotflashes, dizzyness and excrucriating pain which are signs of a worsening ulcer, get some medication for your ulcer ASAP you dont wanna be like me bro trust me, i feel like im living a hell right now

  15. I haven't gone to see a Gastroenterologist yet but have been having symptoms of stomach ulcers I suppose. Last months doctors visit I was told to take Prilosec to reduce the acid production in my stomach (I didn't listen and am now just starting my 2 week dose).
On a regular day I have trouble getting up in the morning due to pain, trouble eating any meal; which probably isn't good. Since I starting smoking pot regularly about 9 months ago, I've lost 10 lbs off of my already small frame, it regulated my entire digestive system (kid you not!). I know smoking cigarettes irritates any type of stomach acid problem, I assume pot does the same. If not for a bong in the morning and at night, I probably wouldn't be doing so hot right now though.

Best suggestion, buy some Prilosec and enjoy a smoke every now and then :smoke:

  16. I don't have ulcers (that I know of), but I do have stomach/intestinal pains and cramps of unknown cause. Possibly caused by Systemic Lupus, and possibly due to either gallbladder or pancreatic issues.

Anyways, MJ has been very effective in treating the intestinal cramps, nausea, and stomach pains, that I get (It doesn't work for the severe-sharp pains... just the crampy, achey type).

A little over a year ago I weighed 105Lbs (I'm 5'8" tall), and looked like a poster child for anorexia. Since I started using MJ, I've been able to eat more, and am now up to 120+ lbs.

I think you might want to give it a try. However, as far as i know it won't treat the underlying cause, just the symptoms, so you do need to see a medical professional and get the ulcer treated properly.

  17. !!!!!!!!
I have a severe ulcer that has moved up from my stomach to my esophagus and causes extreme pain daily. I am on medication to heal the ulcer but it does nothing for the pain. I started smoking weed again specifically to see if the pain would subside, and it works wonders. I can be in the middle of a terrible stomach ache and as soon as I smoke, it feels ten times better.

The problem is, smoke of any kind is no good for ulcers. Therefor, vaporizing is the way to go.
    !!!!!!!!

  18. I have a stomach ulcer too its not that big its actually pretty small but I'm eating better now and drinking a lot of water ... But when I smoke weed I feel as if my stomach inflates .. as if the smoke stayed inside my stomach ?? Which is kind of painful not too much but yeah and its really uncomfortable .. anyone know what this could be ?

  19. Found out I have ulcers a couple months back. I have had stomach issues WAYYY before I ever touched marijuana. The medication that I have been put on to help the ulcers actually make me feel worse. Smoking relieves any pain or whatever that doesn't allow me to eat and I can actually live a normal life.

This plant does so many wonderful things

  20. Vape it in pure CO2 concentrate, high THC/high CBD, CBN and CBG is nice. Don't go cheap, higher priced concentrates will be more efficient and will fuck you up without fucking up your health. Can't wait for that vaporslide though... THAT SHITT LOOKS DANK!
