Male Isolation Chamber (Pollen Collection)

  1. Clear container, pleated furmace filter, variable axial fan, grommets for 1/4 inch drip line. Seals very well.

I'll let you know how it works.

  2. really cool idea.

Just an idea, but, as a test, you should flower a girl right next to it to determine the effectiveness of the filter. if a girl right up against the box doesn't get pollenated, I'm convinced.

    good job man.

The male AK-47 is in the flower chamber with some babes, ;)... Poor guy sitting in there like the bubble boy or a horny teen wearing a body size condom, lol.

  4. that thing gonna get enough light? Or does it matter? Does full spectrums pass through clear plastic?

  5. I have it placed under a 1000 watter. If that doesn't work nothing will.

  6. Yeah, I think 1000 will do it fine, considering you can grow a male in the shade!

Nice job D. +rep if i can (edit, no luck, i'll get back to ya, i promise0. When I get a male (hopefully with my new genetics) I am doing this all the way.

I have never had a male ever need 12/12 to flower. I find as they get older, they will automatically flower. So I am gonna build a mini version of this, - the drip line, as i will just pull the whole box out, and take it to another room to water. Then mist the exterior of the box to kill any pollen that may escape. sweet job.:metal:

  7. Ya learn something new everyday. I am assuming now that water kills pollen?

  8. Yes. Not kills it, but makes it unusable.

  9. been using one of these for sometime now...great thing to have for those of use who dont have a seperate room for males. Just actually cleaned mine out after gathering some pollen off a skunk#1 male a few days ago. Takes the fear out of having a male in such close prox. to the flowering girls.

  10. Thanx bro, I figured if they autoflower easy then in 12/12 they'd go nutz. And that seems to be the case. Nanners and yellow pollen everywhere. Hard to take a picture thru the chamber. I'll take some more pics when I open it up in 2 days.

Yes it is very convenient, I have a G-13 Father I keep trimming the nanners off waiting to go in next. Then later I intend to produce some feminized AK-47 pollen. Are you planning to cross with your skunk#1 pollen?

Not sure what nute solution I should be using but I assumed a standard flowering mix used on the females would also work on males. However I would not be surprized if I were wrong, male NPK requirements could be totally different then female, guess I should look that up.

Here are some pics,,, hard to see thru the plastic...

I was worried since this strain, AK-47 tends to stretch when it goes into flowering that the chamber would be too small. However when the plant went into 12/12 whatever was green on the plant stopped what it was doing and produced pollen sacks. The plant is basically the same height as when it went in. Pretty cool.

  11. Wow man you totally just changed my world lol! I dont know how i never found this before but lately ive been struggling in an apt to hold room for males and your little box here is gold! And man thats cheap too what $50 for the whole thing? Any problem with pollen slipping through yet? Very Cool Bro!

  12. I've hooked up an Odor sock to an axial fan and it still draws through the carbon filter very well ( enough for T5's CFL) , I really love the idea and have considered something for myself , it seems so god damn risky all that pollen, anybody know how small the pore space on a carbon filter has to be to catch pollen , cause that's what you need:p.

they should make filters specifically for pollen isolation chambers , I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't already. I really want some more input here , I know somebody has done this before , gotta hit some different message boards and look around. I'll drop a link if I find something interesting.

  13. I built one of these andi actually found that using a household carbon filter(like what you would put in air purifier or home hvac unit). U know there just like the rectangular filters you put into the unit... just cut it double or triple layer it and then attach it to your box. These filters though are meant for pulling pollen, mold, etc out of the air and by making sure you layer them you will succeed in filtering out all your pollen. Like i said this is how im doing it and it works out great for me!

  14. According to the manufacor a simple merv 8 filter will prevent any pollen from passing:

  15. Very nice idea.

And yeah, pollen is VERY easy to filter. It's a large particle so basically any filter will catch it.

  16. If a pollinated female is placed next to the rest of the regular females, there is a high chance that room air circulation can spread the pollen to other females.

Would you need to make another chamber for the female in seed production?

  17. no after you have the fem polinated for a few days I just spray down with water before returning to rest of girls.

  18. so did it work

  19. Yes, sorry been busy,,,,

  20. Hey I was wondering how it worked out for you. I have a male plant and would like to save some pollen for breeding, my problem is that I don't know what the pollen looks like. I am unable to tend to the plant with a set up like that. Can I just keep a few of the balls?
