So I've been out of town for a while and never got around to posting final pictures and report from my first grow http://forum.grassci...-grow-cfls.html. I never actually weighed it all but i'd estimate around 2-2.5 oz's and now I'm down to the last few nugs. The bud cured beautifully and the smoke is thick and smooth. I'd have to say its some of the best weed i've ever smoked (but I don't have a lot of experience with high grade bud). Its not a one-hitter-quitter, the high slowly builds and hits hardest about 10 minutes after finishing a bowl and last for well over an hour. Its my favorite wake-n-bake weed and is great through out the day, but makes it hard to sleep if you smoke before bed. But one of my plants was hermie and managed to pollinate all the plants. The bud has seeds but mostly in the small lower buds. So I took the seeds from my best plant with the best smoke and started my second grow.

I'm still in the process of renovating my cabinet and I'll post pics as soon as I get it done. Until then, heres a few teaser photos of my new grow. 8 plants, unsexed, 1st day of 12/12 light cycle.:smoking:

So this post marks the real start of my 2nd grow journal. I spent the other day making some renovations to my grow cabinet. Specifically trying to quite down the fan, installing a homemade carbon filter, installing a new strip of lights, and hanging mylar. Although the fan is not as loud and the carbon filter seems to be working, I am not really pleased. I am going to spend the day configuring a new exhaust and odor control system.

There are 8 plants currently, 4 of which have female sites, the other 4 have yet to show if they are male or female.

The Set Up
Grow Space: 3' Wide, 3' 6" tall, 1' 6'' deep. Modified metal storage cabinet, mylar lined
Air: 240 CFM Axial Fan
Odor Control: Homemade Carbon Filter
Lighting: 15 Flourescent, 26 Watt CFL's. 11 daylight bulbs and 4 cool whites. 390 Total Watts
Pots: 2 Gallon
Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Nutrients: Fox Farm Tiger Bloom, Beastie Bloom, Earth Juice Catalyst, and Grandma's Molasses "'Robust"
PH: 6.5-7

All of the plants have been pruned once in the veg period. One plant was FIM pruned a couple of weeks before it was pruned. Now that the plants have finished their first week of flowering I am using LST to create an even canopy and maximize yield (I may decide to do a SCOG if I get to it).

The first couple of pictures are of the exhaust fan and carbon filter. There are holes in the bottom of the cabinet that air is sucked up through and then expelled through the carbon filter. This circulates the air well enough that I don't need an oscillating fan and lets me use more of space for plants. I'd love to hear some feedback and suggestions for maximizing my space.

Well my girls are finishing up their 3rd week of flowering. I had to go out of town for 6 days and when I left I had 6 confirmed females and 2 plants that had yet to show. When I came back in town the girls were in full flower and all 8 plants turned out female! In those 6 days the plants grew over 6 inches, one hell on a stretch. Several grew right into the lights and got burned badly. I never really had space for 8 plants so I removed the 3 tallest plants with the most damage, but I don't want to just throw them away. I'm trying to give them away but until then they're just sittin by a window.

I now have 5 plants in my cabinet, which is still cramped but each plant seems to have enough space. I've been busy trying down branches to keep the leaves from growing into the lights because I'm running out of headroom. I spent a whole night making a new exhaust system and carbon filter and I'm much happier with this new version. It still needs some modifications, so I'll snap some pics when I decide to work on it.

Until then, check out these baby buds! :hello: There are some pictures of the vent holes in the bottom so you can get a better idea of the air situation. The last one are the gals that i'm trying to get rid of, any takers?

Thanks Creeps, i'm glad I was able to help. What you're doing with CFL's is incredible

Well today marks the end of week 3 of flowering, only 5 more to go! I decided to take some individual shots of the girls when I was watering. I went to town cutting out all of the lowest budding sights and some smaller branches that weren't getting enough light. I hope this helps the main buds to pack on more weight as they flower. Unfortunately I found several male buds and flowers on couple of my plants:mad:. I picked them all off, but I have a feeling I'm only going to get more and end up with seeds. These hermies are really starting to piss me off

Lets hear some feedback

Really digging the grow op you've got going, wings! Clean, simple, and well executed!

Bummer about the herms, but at least you get more seeds. Sounds like genetics to me. I'm growing from similar good bud bag seed, which I suspect was bourne of the herm, too. As long as you're not selling, no worries, right? I mean, you could come up with some sweet excuse as to why the bud has seeds ;)

As soon as I get a little extra cash to finish it up, I'll get those pictures for you.

Thanks for the props itsmysubaru :D. I'm not selling, but I'd still prefer not to have seeds. Mainly because the plants spend energy producing seeds instead of bud and trichs. And it won't be bad to get some seeds for a future grow. I'd really like to order some A class seeds for my next grow :smoking:

Did some more thinning of the lower buds today while I was watering and tucked down some fan leaves to get light to some slightly lower bud sights. Anyways here are some shots of the girls sleeping :P

So I'm in the middle of week 5 of flowering. Buds are just starting to swell, 2 plants more than the other 3, but i'm hoping they'll catch up:D

Shot a a few pictures of the girls sleeping, i'll take some individual and close-ups when I water them in the morning.

For so long I thought that CFLs were a waist of time, but by seeing grows like yours I have come around. I even have a small CFL of my own. Good Job!

Well this concludes week 5, only 3 weeks to go!
These gals are getting BIG. I had to move my exhaust fan so I could raise the lights up higher. 2 of the plants are producing much heavier buds than the other 3. I'm not sure why that is but the others are catching up.

Here they are right after the lights went out
