CoD4 is certainly in the top three when it comes to shooters. In second place. After CoD5

I play COD 4 and COD World at War both on 360, and while COD 4 is freaking awesome, COD:WAW has a couple things a really like, such as being able to have search preferences, as now, i can play only australian people without lag, rather than pwn you yanks with lag. However, the dogs in COD:WAW are fucking stupid, and some maps are really bad. Both are still awesome multiplayer games though, and set a benchmark for quality in online FPS.

yeah i just got cod5 for christmas and i think ive played it about 2 times. where as i play cod4 every single day. also i really dont like the fact that cod5 you cannot have paintobs for your guns. and the modern warfare guns are just way better than the classics. classics are pretty damn cool though

i play on xbox 360, until it died on me that is, hopefully ill be back in business(and pissing people off with well hidden c4) here shortly.

Yay for cod4.
Only reason i like it is because of the variable modes: HC, REG & arcade.
choose my servers by what mood I'm in.


Quake III is by far my #1 slot occupant.
followed by other DM games.

yeah hc is the onyl thing i play just because you need the most skill to play it. you dont get a cheap kill cam and you really just need to be stealthy. HC search is the best game though, IMO. all strategy:smoke:

Why yes.

But ofcourse, that is an entirely subjective opinion. Opinions are like asses you know. Everyone has one, they're always divided, and frequently a source of pure manure.

And of your little list of contenders, only CS really hold a candle to the CoD franchise.

- BF42 was great in the its day, but now it is rather dead.
- Doom, I presume you mean the third installment, is just another corridor shooter, with mediocre online play at best.
- Rainbow Six games, eventhough well done and interesting due to its high level of simulated real-world fidelity, is for the specially interested. Those better at planning than actually shooting.
- Unreal and Quake games is way too arcade. Suited more for spotty teens hyped up on red-bull and sugar.
- Halo is console, xbox actually, only. Say what you want of consoles, but for shooters they are entirely inept.
- Half-Life is well and good for single-player, but not that hot online out of the box. Which is why the original CS mod did so great, and generally established the competitive team based online shooter community.

So currently, what you are left with, is CoD4, CoD5, BF2 and CS:S. On PC naturally. And of those, both CoD games beat the other two both artistically and technically from an infantry-combat point of view.

Though BF2 is great if you want to play with military hardware, and CS:S is great if you're serious about competitive play, as it got a large active and consistent community. Though to my taste a bit juvenile. The CoD community is in my experience more mature.

A little special mention of TF2 before I forget. Great for some quick fun, with some hilarity thrown in for good measure, but too random for serious play.

I don't care if anyone flames me for it.
But Call of Duty 4 is better than Counter Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike Source.
I say this as a ex-constant player of Counter Strike and mods like The Specialists and such, it's a sweet FPS don't get me wrong..
But I like and have always liked the COD franchise more.

COD4 is the utter shit lol. If any of you guys play it on PC and have xfire add me, badluckbic, maybe we can get a GC game going

I am a crossfire fanatic, i can't get enough. If people want to see it, i can post my sniper guide for the map.

What are your favorite maps, guys/gals?

In CoD4, "Strike" is my favourite map by far. I prefer urban maps, more medium to close range combat, and less of that sniper nonsense. And on Strike it all just fits. Search and Destroy ofcourse, dunno how the map is in other modes.

Id love to see that guide if you don't mind. I'm more of a free for all person. No more than 20 people on a big map, 15 is ideal. Or like 5 or 6 MAX on killhouse.

Mostly a guide for counter-snipers. What fun is it to just shoot rushers?
Oriented towards TDM w/ 15-30 persons.
