Highest CBD content for epilepsy

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by colorado, Jan 16, 2009.

  1. I have complex partial seizures brought on by sleep deprivation, and I have been doing a lot of research lately on the CB1 and CB2 receptors in regards to this type of seizure. Data seems to support the idea that cannabinoids found in sativa marijuana will prevent seizures via these two receptor pathways. Anyways, on to my question:

What strain or strains (preferably 100% sativa) have a very high cannabinoid content? I have been reading descriptions on the Doc's website, but always prefer firsthand information.

I just went off of my parent's health insurance, and now no one will give me decent coverage due to "pre-existing conditions". It is making my anti-convulsant medicine Lamictal unaffordable. Without insurance this stuff runs close to $600 a month, and it's still $300 if you order it from Canada. I REALLY appreciate any help you guys can give me, because I am in a bind here.

P.S.: This site is AMAZING! Hopefully I can stick around and contribute something.

  2. CBD does not stimulate your cannabinoid receptors...

Your right about it being sativa

I think some dank sativa buds is all you need.

Try it out and see what happens.

  3. Thanks a lot! It seems I have misinterpreted some of the studies I read, assuming CBD = cannabinoid. I will keep looking and hopefully I can find a good strain to fill my needs. if anyone has specific suggestions I would love to hear them

Storm Crow, that was an awesome thread. It was very informative and the posters really seem to know their stuff.

That next to the last one is specifically about CBD and epilepsy. And there is a whole mess of studies on cannabidiol, CBD, and many other conditions, in the link below. I wish the breeders would start seriously concentrating on some really high CBD strains!

i got all the first hand info you could need ... meds side afects docs youu name it i can help

  7. Don't mean to bring up an old post but are high CBD plants usually more expensive?

  8. no..actually cheaper. Look up Ruderalis INdica 100% pure. It contains 12% CBD 5% Thc. This is perfect for epileptics, but not the best for recreational. This will for sure be the best. Too much THC can cause seizures.

  9. Just quickly reading about this strain they mention it has higher levels of CBD than THC, but not % are mentioned, where abouts did you get those stats? Thanks

  10. Ok what I am interested in and studying is Ruderalis Indica by Sensi Seeds. They actually cross it with psychoactive indicas from Southern Russia and into Asia. It is Ruderalis Dominant, but I guess the CBD % is unknown. They only said that it is low in THC and comparatively high in CBD. I am hoping it is like the seeds CBD Crew offers (1:1 ration of thc to cbd.

Get cannatonnic buy resin seeds , buy one single fem seed and clone it

  12. Raskal's OG Kush

    Gravity

    Harlequin

  13. That sounds like a good idea I agree. I have faith that it alone is very high in CBD. I trust Sensi Seeds on what they say about the "subtle effects" of their ruderalis Indica seed.

There isn't really any reviews on it.

  14. Has the cannatonic been stabilized or is it like some of the others where you may get several phenotypes from one batch of seed? I've been waiting until I'm confident that the seed that grows is going to produce the right plant.

Hey I love it, thanks for the info! My son is Epileptic and has Autism and I'm def interested

  17. So CBD stands for cannabidiol, and it is a type of cannabinoid found in mmj. THC is the cannabinoid that provides the psychoactive effects or "high" you get from mmj. CBD is not nearly as psychoactive, and if taken in normal doses isn't psychoactive at all. It does, however, provide many health benefits including working as an anti-convulsant. Many people who experience seizures or have epilepsy use CBD as an anti-convulsant. You can buy CBD in extracted forms, such as syrup, in mmj dispensaries, and I sell a LOT to my patients. A really good CBD rich strain if you prefer to smoke/grow is Harlequin.

This is an article about a man who gave his young epileptic son CBD, and it helped with his seizures. The poor thing had been suffering serious grand mal seizures since he was 4 months old and had been put on so many medications he hardly showed any personality. He had not gone a day without having a seizure since he was a baby. After trying CBD for the FIRST time, the boy went 4 days without having a seizure.
