~Hello Everyone.~

This is my first post to share my findings using a new "Stealth Grow 2K8" box.

The Stealth Grow 2K8 consists of:

1x Cabinet with hinged front doors and exhaust hole in ceiling,
also has pre-made holes on back panel to fix light, 2x air intake fans, and power supply.

W- 17.5
H- 24
D- 15.5 inches

1x 12cm, 12v computer exhaust fan
(to fit to cabinet ceiling exhaust hole.)

2x 8cm computer fans
(to fit to rear of cabinet
for air intake.)

1x 250watt Halogen bulb with bayonet fixing and mains adapter
(screws into pre-made hole in back of cabinet.)

2x 60watt Cool White CFL's with bayonet fixing and mains adapter
(screws into a choice of four places around the cabinet.)

1x 4-way POWER-SURGE adapter
(mounts to top left hand side of cabinet.)

1x 9v adapter to power intake and exhaust fans.

Anyway....

I have heard a LOT of bad things about growing with halogen lights such as the intense radiate heat they give off and not providing enough lumens etc...

However, i sat and thought for a while and looked for a while on the internet and had an idea. if i could control the intense heat from the halogen enough to put it into a small enclosed area, add a couple of blue spectrum lights and a couple of varied spectrum lights WITHOUT, burning the building down OR, taking up too much space inside the small area i would have to work with, then i might be on to something.

The Plan

The plan is to try and keep the plants as short and wide as possible, topping early, regularly, but also keeping them short until flowering, since they can only grow to just over 18 inches high ALTOGETHER!
Also, I forgot to mention. My first project will be with Swiss Outdoor seeds so it should be interesting.

Determination

There is often a way round a lot of things. Making things possible that shouldn't logically work. I am almost certain i can get a good result from a HALOGEN, so now i just have to wait and see.

I have attached pictures so please, tell me what you think, any ideas or improvements are a good thing. Thanks.

P.S. - In The Pictures, The Two 60watt CFL's Have Not Been Added Yet, And The Bulb Is Only 100watt. Still Waiting On The 250watt.

I think going with Hydro will give you more plant room...

Also, you can squeeze an HPS bulb in there (or 2-3 small ones).

Other than that it looks pretty good and clean.

Thanks Microgrow, yeah i'm just starting to design a similar cupboard but with hydro instead, so i can create a mini "sea of green" i will be using HPS bulbs for that one and most probably growing lowryders but that is for another future thread :D
With this grow, i am just experimenting with, and trying to solve the common problem that is the halogens' terrible heat to light ratio.

How about adding a glass (the size of the box) a few inches below the light, if it's well insulated it should reduce the heat a little bit (with venting), it would be like a big hood.

I was thinking about doing that with my cabinet, but since it's outdoors now, I have time until I need to worry about heat.

Good idea microgrow, but so far with the 100watt halogen bulb, the fan directly underneath it bringing cool air in and the 12cm exhaust fan on the ceiling of the grow box is keeping the it nice and cool, about the same amount of heat as a low powered cfl (amazed me when i put my hand close to the bulb and didn't get burned.):smoke:
I just hope this success with cooling continues when i put the 250watt halogen bulb in. We'll see. :)
