Sniffer dogs in teenage bedrooms

Retired sniffer dogs that have spent years on police patrol are now working in the private sector in the US - sniffing out teenagers' bedrooms.
Parents can rent a dog and handler for $200 (£125) an hour from Sniff Dogs, a firm operating in New Jersey and Ohio.
The dogs are highly trained and can detect illegal drugs.
The company says the animals can smell marijuana from up to 15 feet away (5m) and residue on clothing from drugs smoked two days earlier.
The dogs sit when they detect the drugs but they leave the final inspection to the parents.
Discreet service
The company was founded by a mother of two sons, who was surprised to find her oldest son smoking marijuana.

Sniff Dogs claims to offer a "discreet service" that avoids the confrontation that comes from drugs tests because the search can be carried out without the knowledge of their children.
The company cites statistics showing half of American schoolchildren have tried marijuana and that most drug taking takes place when they get home from school.
Pat Winterstein from Washington, New Jersey decided to use the service to search the bedrooms of her three children.
"I trust my kids, but you only can trust them so far. They're kids, young adults, they're going to make (a) mistake," she told ABC news.
Critics claim that the service could be invasive and may break down family trust.

Wow, what a great way to keep kids away from drugs! Encourage parents to totally destroy their child's trust for them and to foster a relationship of secrecy, invasion of privacy, and malicious mustrust to keep their kids away from drugs! Wow!

How can parent expect to be able to trust their kids, if the kids can't trust their parents...

I think that if you really want to educate the kids, you need to tell them that unlike other drugs, marijuana is ok, but only after a certain age.

If you tell them that all drugs are the same and they are all bad, they maybe next to friends that use marijuana, see that it's not as bad as they were led to believe, and that may cause them to try that, and assume other drugs are the same too....

I could never imagine doing something like that to my kids. Sure, I'd want to protect them from a number of bad things in the world, but marijuana definitely is not one of them. There's more to be concerned about than this wonderful herb. :smoking:

It's things like that which force people to smoke it in bad places. It's that sort of thing that got my mate using harder drugs, dropping out of college, and leaving home, which if you're a parent, is worse than your kid having the odd smoke of pot everyday at the bottom of the garden.

It's sad alot of people are so brainwashed to actually pay 200 dollers for a dog to tell thrm if they smoke or not? Obviously if they don't know that and have to bring in Drug dogs. Maybe spend 200 dollers on your kid instead and not be a complete piece of shit. Blah

Sometimes i wanna move to some 3rd world country so i can smoke and grow pot in my own privacy without worrying about US'S bs about marijuana.............

LOL glad my parents don't know about that and that it's not in my state... they just piss test me and I have to pass in order to live in the house, so I just keep a bottle of clean piss under my bathroom sink at all times and remove the little temp strip tape on the side of the cup if it has it because they don't pay enough attention to notice it.

If they had that option, well, I'd be shit outta luck, and they'd probably find out all about my xanax, k-pins, adderall, lsd, molly, mushrooms, vics, codeine, rolls, and everything else I've been getting my grubby little mits on.

... shits nasty, that bottle of piss has been there since I was fucking 16, 2+ years of random drug testing because of being arrested for "paraphenalia", gotta love parents...

ridiculous how much people pay to just say "oh no my kid is smoking pot" better to just not know and not give a fuck about someone else's body
