Hey guys heres my deal.

I got a lamp from htgsupply.com its a 400w hps with a upgraded reflector and fan w ducting the gets all the hot air away from my grow tent. I have 3 ak 47 LR cross plants at about 2 weeks old. Should be showing sex any day now.

My Hps lamp started having issues, for example, when i turn it on, nothing happens, ive waited 10 min and nothing. I take my reflector glass off and twist the bulb untill the bulb starts sparking and then eventually lights. Before it would turn on, on its own as long as i didnt unplug it and then plug it back in. If I did that then I would have to take the glass off and twist the bulb again. Very annoying and usless since my timer is set to turn lights off from midnight to 4am. Ive woken up to a running ballast but no light, have to twist an mess with the bulb.

Well anyway the things pissing me off so i call htgsupply and they say they will replace it but have nothing in 400w range in stock at the moment to replace it with. They told me they sent me some shitty bulb as a free temporary lamp till they get the 400w in.

Dude my plants about to flower and i have to send the lamp in!!!

Ok so ive switched the timer so im awake when the light should be turning on to make sure that everything is working, my question is should i wait for the new hps to arrive or should i take this as a sign of god that its time to try LED lights + CFL settup??

Ive seen some good results online with LED, as well as some real sad results. Real low yeild. Its making me hesitant to make the change.

I bumped into an artical today that had this pic

It was made using LED as well as CFL lights.

HTG supply has 50w LED pannels, if i was to give them back the HPS i could get 2 pannels for only a few dollars more.
I would also get some 50w CFL lights, im thinking 4
This would give me more room in my tent since that stupid 400w takes so much space

Anyway any opinion or info on these LED pannels would be very helpfull.

30 people looked at this but no one has a clue?

I did some more reading. Although LED is very cool I think ill wait till the technology improves. HTGsupply has a digital 400w lamp. I hope its in stock its 65 dollars more, i think im just going to exchange it.

Anyone use digital ballast?

If i were you i would say, you know what im gonna go for it and use LEDS and cfls. Based on the spectrum you need for flower i would go with a couple panels and only a couple of cfls. There are these new technology lights called saber's that are floresence, but you can get them in a single spectrum, such as for flowering. The sick think about these new lights is the lights dont reach over a degree that could burn a plant, that means you could stick some literally in your plant.
