Growing on a boat.

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by gjreed, Jun 9, 2008.

  1. Hey,
Ive grown outdoors, have lots of experience with outdoor hearty strains. But now I live on a boat, and I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried or heard of doing a small indoor setup, probably just one plant for personal use. Also whats the best odor control as my boat is moored in a harbor and having coastguard up my ass would suck.

Let me know if anyone has any advise.

  2. can't the coast guard come on to your boat at any time? like for no reason?

  3. bad, first you need a good power supply i would hate to see you on the news as the guy who's battery died because his grow room ate up all the energy and was luckily found by the coast guard.

all in all, just a bad idea dude. find a nice wooded area where you can dock up to. don't be dumb coast guard is bored.

  4. I think one plant is very doable on a boat. There are certainly some issues to solve that you wouldn't have to solve in a regular home, but I don't see that they couldn't be solved.

Do you take the boat out a lot? If so, how much tilt do you get to the deck? Is this a houseboat where it's always pretty much level? Or a sailboat where you can lean over 45 degrees or more?

For odor control, I'd pick a strain that didn't smell very strong, avoid anything with "skunk" in the name and use ONA gell.

  5. lol!!!!
yeah man that sounds pretty extreme
but u can nutralise the odor its not a problem
i would worry more about the power and the guard
    ull need like 300w anyway

  6. Yeah, and this is a good point - they are feds

  7. couldn't you put a solar panel on the roof of the boat for electricity ? or would it be bait for the cops?

  8. I don't think it'd be too hard.... Considering you don't plan on taking your boat out while the plant is in growth..

  9. hey thanks for the suggestions
1st the coast guard can only enter the cabin with a warrant or in an emergency situation, for boats registered in the us
2nd its a 30 ft sail boat, i take it out of the harbor a few times a week mainly weekends so depending on set up plant could go visit the neighbor for a few hours on her house boat.
3rd as far as power i have 2 600w shore to boat lines so i can pull 1200 watts. best is its not metered!

yeah and as long as my boat doesnt stink like a hippy garden ill be good think the fact that the boat is water tight should keep most of the smell trapped then i can air it out at night. and with one plant yeah

so in aug i get back to the states, currently in central america, and ill set this guy up and post some pics,
more input if you got it pleas!

  10. that would be such a awesome life, sailing the world and letting the sun grow huge mo'fuggin bud plants on the deck

  11. Well on the deck might attract some attention but a indoor grow box in the cabin sounds like heaven to me.

  12. Yeah man! That's exactly what i was thinking...I meen what stoner doesnt want to go to dank places all over the world and see sweet shit, while having your own little grow room on your boat!!! You think your the first to try it?

  13. Wouldnt humidity be an issue? And is that salt water a threat to the health of the plants besides humidity?

And the coast guard will be on your ass if you try this imho, not to say it CANT be done, but its just too risky.... if you have doubts, and have to ask yourself if it is a bad question, then it USUALLY is.

  14. I guess i should go to a dr and get a med card, in ca you can have up to 5 plants for personal medical use, and my chronic back pain and glaucoma sure are getting hard to deal with!

  15. could he possibly for part of the sail actually put the herbz out in the sun? seems pretty legit
