What kind of ash does clean bud burn to?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by birgersnirger, Dec 16, 2007.

  1. Pesticide and fertilizer use on commercial bud is a huge health threat to many of us more uninformed, connect-lacking tokers.

The few occasions where i've smoked genuine organic homegrown bud, it burnt very quickly to a very light and fragile greyish white ash.

99% of the commercial bud i come in contact with burns to a thick black ash - either with grey lacings, waxy or greasy appearance, ressy thickness, or various other physical attributes.

i just picked up some bud (sour diesel) from the homegrower i got the previous organic bud from (according to my dealer who values my cash more than my lungs). it looks and smells almost the same, but has a slightly saltier taste that i associate with commercial hydro, and burns to a thicker black ash in a bubbler.

Could this be ok? or should it be avoided by those trying not to develop various cancers later on in our lives.

What does your ash look like? does the color of your ash vary depending on the piece you use? i generally smoke with a volcano, so don't have too much info on this. seems to always burn grayer in a chillum, blacker in a bong, what do you guys think?

    thanks for any info...

and please no vague uninformed answers : "dude, i smoke all day everyday and i'm fine, you sound anxious man, just smoke a lil tree and chill, dude there are zero deaths caused by weed, shit's all natural by definition.. etc etc etc"

  2. grey/white fluffy ashes

  3. Are you sure you're burning it all the way down to ash? Any thing I've ever smoked, mids, dank, whatever, all turns to gray ash once you burn it all the way.

  4. I've found that the best pot ashes a snow white color. I was once told that if the grower properly flushes all the fertilizer type stuff out of the plant, it should ash snow white. If he doesn't, then the pot with burn into a black/grey kind of ash, which means it hasn't been properly taken care of. I'm fortunate to be only two degrees separated from a very experienced grower. All my pot ashes white, or close to it. I don't think it's a health concern as much as a quality concern.

  5. Thanks for the guidelines

  6. snow white.

  7. depends honestly on what its rolled in. for glass, it also depends on the torch/lighter you use.

for blunts, ive had ash with many white speckles, which are the crystals. its pretty cool.

  8. dude, i smoke all day everyday and i'm fine, you sound anxious man, just smoke a lil tree and chill, dude there are zero deaths caused by weed, shit's all natural by definition.

  9. if I really burn it all the way, the nug shrivels up into a ball of fine powedery white ash with hints of black and grey in it. The same thing happens regardless of the potency of my bud.

  10. my ash is white, regardless of the bud...then again I only smoke grade A weed

  11. how can you tell if it is burnt all the way? the batch i have is probably 60-70% chalky white ash when thoroughly burnt (difficult to burn it deeply without having it "pull through" into the bubbler or be completely destroyed by the flame). the white is in the center of the bowl, and is surrounded by black charred buds. does bud initially turn black when charred but not fully combusted? does black charred bud ash simply need to be burnt more to showcase the powder white, or is it turning white simply because the residues that were initially left are being burnt up with more work.

ive noticed that the tiny pieces of stem in the bowl burn a shiny black. normal?

  12. usually a whiteish colour. Sometimes a light gray

  13. white but it really doesnt matter. i think your main issue is you snap your bud before the bowl is officially burnt through. try a hand pipe maybe and youll be able to tell better

  14. If it's still pretty much solid, then it's not burned all the way. Poke it a little and see.

  15. What you need to do is hit it again when you think it's cashed. You're not finishing your bowls bro, if it's black/grey, you can get another hit off it. Smoke till it's pure white and won't cherry anymore.

  16. Closest so far.

Cannabible 3 says in "why most pot sucks" that organic ash will turn completely white. I haven't smoked anything that isn't organic in about a year, following this test. Also to note from the article that he says this: it should also taste the same. If your hitting some diesel and near the bottom it starts tasting like a cigarette, you got chemmies my friend. At this point, if the taste is chemmy, look at the ash. When its black and tastes horrible thats chem. when you can smoke the ash and it still tastes great, organic.

Good luck vaporizing your chem weed. I suggest finding some organic.

  17. Well flushed nuggets will ash white. No residue whatsoever...

Poorly flushed buds will ash black and grey and leave a residue...

Very poorly flushed buds will ash black and look almost shiny after the burn.

  18. I think its retarded that some people don't flush it. When its not flushed it makes it less of a medicine, sometimes not at all. Also won't get them as much money and its extremely easy and actually costs less to them because its time the plants need no nutes, only water.

whatever i dont smoke that chem crap and neither should anyone else.

  19. Yeah. :smoke:
