Auto help

  1. My first time growing autos one looks weird and the other's look like weirder. I got a thousand watt hps going for 18 hr, with a fan blowering air and oscillating. The temperature is at 72f. They're in root organics 707 and I feed them ro water with eath juice catalyst, bloom, hi brix, and humic acid all 5ml to a gallon about ever time they need water (around every three days). I also give them dr. Earth vegetable and herb fertilizer (5-7-3). I gave them about half a cup each about a week ago. They're 24 days from seed. Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks

  2. Looks maybe like a half cup might have been to much. What sho you use fur lighting. Soil do you check your ph in your water and soil ph if you can't get any other advice

  3. You have a combination problem here. LOL First, that Roots Organics 707 is a "hot" soil...which means it has lots of extended release fertilizers built into it...the "original" works better. You probably wouldn't have needed any added nutrients yet because they are in such huge pots to start out with. You don't start nutes until your plants have had a chance to use up those that are in the soil to begin with. That's why you're seeing signs of burn on these plants.
Secondly, you're over watering. No way those plants in huge containers can use up a pot full of water in 3 days. You have to maintain defined wet/dry cyclesfor optimum plant happiness. Keeping the roots sitting in moist dirt continually will only cause root rot and other not so fun things to fix later on. You also need to pH any liquids going into your plants (6.3 to 6.7 for soil grows). This is a biggie if you want your plants to be healthy. Continual watering/feeding out of pH balance will cause the roots of your plant to lock up and not be able to take in nutrition. Also...you didn't start them out under that 1000 watt hps light did you? Not trying to insult you or anything, but you see and hear everything on this forum. Veg with CFLs or mh, flower with hps.
Read around on the new grower threads here. Sounds like you need to get a better idea of the basics of growing this plant the right way. All these things work together to make a healthy plant and a productive grow: pH range/management. Watering technique. Potting technique. Nutes. pH management of liquids going into your plants. Lighting. Grow media. Everything you might need or want to know about has already been discussed here and logged. The more you know, the better your next grow will be. Good luck! TWW

  4. Thanks for the replys guys. The plants where actually on day 54 now 55. They started to fade before I added the dr earth. It didn't fix it the issue. I haven't ph ed the water but next time I water I will. The hps make a lot of heat even though they temps are low, because of my exhaust. The pots dry out really quicky, but I wait till an inch of the top is completely dry. I waited four days one time and I saw signs of dehydration. I water one and a half cups of water each, so its not a lot of water either. Not saying I didn't over water though I'll try to make sure the dirts more dry next time I water. Picture 5 has the weirdest plant he was the smallest and only started flowering about a week ago now he looks bad maybe root rot. He was about 1/3 of the size of the other's, but he caught up to the other's.

I also didn't start them in the hps I put them under cfls for their first week almost 2 weeks. Then I put them under the 1000watt. What did you mean by you see and hear about vegging with hps. I know metal halide would be better, but would cfl really be better than 1000watt??? I do have some t5 but they're only 250watts I think the cfls are about 30 watts each and I use 4 of them. I would be getting more lumes from the thousand then all those.

This is my first time growing autos and starting plant in such big pots. It was going well until about 2 weeks ago. Like I said before the plants started to fade maybe some sort of deficiency but I added the dr earth and it normally starts to break down or be aborbed by the plants by now but the fading hasn't stoped and the now the plant on picture 5 looks like shit. I'll make sure to check the ph and wait a bit longer before watering. Any thing else ???

    Again thanks guys
