How much will bud swell last 2 weeks?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by summersoft, Nov 29, 2015.

  1. So i know we are looking at trichomes to see if harvest is ready but my lady is on day 50 today and it says its a 60 day flower strain. In this 10 days will much happen to the buds? Curious first time for me.

  2. This is the closest i can get till i get a loupe. Is that a amber trichomes i see in one of the pics? Help me out guys .

  3. Perhaps a pic of the whole plant would help and a bit more info, medium, nutrients, time in veg, strain
, most of the finishing times that the seed companies give are ideal and in a lot of cases you can expect to add some time to them
Also, a lot of strains are known to pack on the weight during the last couple weeks or so

Doesn't look ready but unless you have a good USB scope to take pics with its hard to tell from a camera. Get a pic of the whole plant. Yes that is an amber tric. Most people like atleast 25% amber, I shoot for 50%amber/ 50 cloudy. Its hard to tell since its not a scope pic but I see alot of clear it looks like to me. Looks like you're way less then 1% amber. I'm willing to bet you're to early. Get a full pic but not 1 that's back so far the pistils and I've all appearance can't be seen. The plant will get an amber "glow" to it for lack of better words. Trics are the best way to tell for sure. Just looks like alot if clear to me

Pistils are too white and haven't begun to recede. You still have time. How much they swell depends in the plant and how well they were taken care of.

  9. Agree with everybody else. It's not time yet. I would try to let them go another 2 or 3 weeks if it were me. Actually, the best thing to do is get yourself a loupe and then you won't have to ask anybody. LOL They're relatively cheap compared to some of this stuff we have to buy to grow with. But just by what I see from the top pics, you'll do yourself a favor by letting them ride for awhile long. This is the hardest part!! Being patient and giving them all the time they need to finish. LOL Those two pics on the bottom are not of the same plants as those above are they? Don't even remotely resemble each other. Good luck! TWW

  10. Yeah, I'm still a few weeks out at least but I ordered a 30x22-60x12 led illuminated double jewelers loupe off amazon with free shipping for 6.00$, not a fancy usb one, but I think it should work, can't for the life of me figure out how to add the link, but there plenty full and cheap

The poor thing looks lost in that big field of clear and semi cloudy.. I like big wide sweeps of amber like graffiti on a city bus..
Take several snips from deep where light doesn't reach to avoid false light ripened spots inside to a table where you can work them.. I've found about 60 power is best for my tired old eyes to really get a look.. Radio shack sells-sold a 15 dollar hand held that got the job done just fine.. 60x100 power..

  12. it will work fine. I only mentioned a USB scope for tric pics on the net. Camera pics of trics are difficult to separate clear from cloudy sometimes. Usb's are cool but totally unnecessary.

  13. alright thanks! Yes its the same plant but one is without flashlight and it differs 1 week between the pics.

  14. Agreed with most of the peeps here, you have at least have three weeks left to ripen based on those pictures. Those flowering times are purely based on every ideal environmental condition being met. I usually add on 10 days to my flower times.

As far as plumping goes, I see approx a 30% increase in diameter around the buds the final two weeks. I have never harvested early, so I don't know how that translates to dried weight.

  15. I got myself this loupe today and its far from ready. The trichomes are cristal clear.

Picked this little guy up off amazon for 5 $ and change delivered
It's the first time I have ever looked at herb through a scope, it's a whole nother world down there:)

  17. You should learn how to "trike" your buds for optimum ripeness. Get a jewler's loupe or a magnafier. Check the trichomes on the bud. If it is clear, then you have to wait. If the trikes are cloudy white, then its a good sativa rush. If your trikes are half cloudy, half amber, then you have a 50/50 hybrid high (my fav). If your trikes are all amber, then you get an body high from it. If you wait too long....its no good. I suggest you google "how to check trichomes for ripeness". They have pics and a better tutorial. Maybe even here on GC! Good luck.

  18. Thanks for your comment bro! I got myself a loupe today and its obvious its not done yet. The trichomes are cristal clear. Im shooting for the 50/50.
