Possible ph problem?

  1. Hi everybody!
I'm growing inside for the first time. I have some outdoor growing experience with success.
I managed to get one OG Kush seed which i germinated and planted. It's now three weeks old. I began to notice brown and yellow spots on leaves a few days ago.
I'm growing in a closet with 2x 45 4400k cfl(i didn't find any 6500k in my area and didn't want to order) and one 2700k 30w cfl cus it just happend to be around (couldn't hurt, right?)
I'm growing in a soil meant for tomatoes (been having success with it)
I'm giving her tap water and 5-5-5 NPK nutes.
I don't know ph for my tap water and tought it wouldn't matter cus i've had a good grow outside with it (also with 5-5-5 nutes)
I don't have a fan yet but i'm planning on getting one tomorrow(also a ph tester)
Also, i fimmed it so the new growth looks weird naturally.
Maybe it's from ph or maybe heat? Any help appreciated!

  2. Looks like a a PH issue.

  3. WHOA, wow, first things first, it's not pH alone, it's Chlorine and possible Iron depending on your 'tap' water

1st never use unfiltered tap water to grow your medicine or food

TAP WATER HAS CONTAMINENTS !!! always use carbon filteration at minimum

    2nd
MOST IMPORTANT PART OF GROWING IS H20 pH ... (always at 7 AFTER NUTRIENTS)

(always get the best WATERPROOF ELECTRONIC DIGITAL pH TESTER)
Because it is THE most valuable part of growing, period. (indoor or out)

    easy math OG indoor grow

4"rock wool - Alaskan Fish food per instructions - H20 pH at 7 with pH up down (organic)

    DONE

    LESS IS MORE

  4. Grow Organic. Then you won't have to worry about PH issues and testing.

  5. well...I think it's ph lockout because of which it's locked out nutes, cal, mag, among others it also could be getting a iron overdose because of low ph in the soil that would account for rust spots and get a ph pen what the hell are u thinking man!?, most people think growing in soil is somehow easier because of the buffer, but that buffer also makes it equally difficult to correct problems, you might get lucky with soil grows as u can in hydro but mostly nature will kick you directly in the head after killing your plants. with all that being said here's your next steps, find out what water your using hard or soft in your area surface water is soft like from dams and waterways, hard water is bore or aquifer water. I've recently learned about this myself, Now you know what the water is let it stand for 24 hours before feeding it to plants to evaporate the chlorine, test it with your Newly acquired ph pen! And always always always adjust the ph "After" adding nutes, check the soil your using is it heavy or light mix?, flush it with fresh phd water, to be honest u don't need to add anything till the 3 week mark, then start adding at 1/8 of the manufacturers stated dose and increase slowly less is always more!. In my opinion your headed the right way least, outdoor bud is generally fluffy harsh smells like crap and taists worse than it looks generally speaking, I say this from experience as I've got 15 years of dirt grows under my belt in the Australian sun, some are good some are bad but let's be honest a good strain in a hydro kicks the crap out of organic in every single way. Good luck mate ;) oh ps. Look into "dwc" it might be just what your looking for ;-) if u wanna stay with soil get on top of your mix you need to know everything that's happening in there!! Don't wack it in and hope for the best. B-)

Does the "tomato soil" indicate it has lime, or dolomite [lime] in it? If not there's your problem. Unless your bottled nute has some magic pH buffering power [& some do]. This can also get compounded as Cal and Mag issues usually accompany. A classic example of pH it looks like you are N deficient so you hit it with more N but really there was plenty of N and you just added what has gone from plenty to a toxic dose because your pH is off and the plant can't uptake. Then the Cal Mag deficiency takes hold you hit the plant with pH downed water all that N starts cooking the plant and the Cal Mag issue is kicking your ass and yield and quality are off and you just shot an 8+ week bloom not to mention veg time.

You got to have pH on lock and Cal / Mag covered from jump. Then growing the reefers is easy.

ps: [edit] Right on Shanti! When you here the term water it means DE clorinated water. [also for me water means de clorinated bubbled EWC/Molassas tea]
