hey guys i live in Missouri and a couple days ago me and a couple friends got pulled over over because the driver didn't signal, of course we were all smoking on a blunt cruise at the time. When the officer came to us we were all pretty cool except the driver who was being a asshole to the cops so they decided to search us and when they searched the car they found about 1g of weed it was mine and since I wasn't being a douchebag and was pretty chill they gave me a summons instead of taking me to jail, so my question is what do I have to expect from this court date as a first time offender? I'm 18 by the way
Missouri...will fuck you for about 350 + court cost, at the least... expect an additional cost of paying for a 'drug class'..and a couple of years of probation. Missouri sucks.
You can reasonably expect arraignment (such as it is on a ticket) and you can also expect the Prosecutor to give you some manner of offer. It is up to you whether you want to accept the offer and be done with the case or set the case for a next docket setting. The other thing is to ask for the lab report since there are still some elements of discovery that apply even at the lowest levels of the judiciary...if you are represented by counsel, then they will include that in their standard pre-trial motions.
A few hundred bucks probably. Or since it was only a G if you are lucky a few of those drug classes and no fine. I doubt you get raped with fines and probation no matter which state you live. Either way don' hangout with that driver anymore, and don't smoke while driving anymore..
