[Help] Planning a garage grow. HVAC help please

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Virtual, Nov 21, 2015.

  1. Growing inside my house is currently out of the question. I am left with a large detached garage.
My growing area in the garage will probably be about 16' x 16'. I plan on doing large plants in large containers as my restraints are number of plants, not the size of plants.
The area is well insulated, except for the floor. I live in Michigan so the climate is cold this time of year.

I do NOT want to use electric heat.
I do want to use propane. I have the option of placing one of those huge tanks near the garage and running a line from that.

The plants will be using up the CO2 in the room and I will need fresh air and/or CO2 added.
My plan is to vent fresh air in for about 3 to 5 minutes, then off for 15minutes. If this is not sufficiently cooling the room even in winter, I can run the fan more.

    My questions:
Will installing a furnace in the room and hooking it up to a thermostat add CO2 to the room when its running?
Can I hook one of those CO2 burners from the grow store up to a thermostat instead of a CO2 monitor thing?
Is forcing air in an acceptable option?
If I push air in, do I have to push it through the light or can I blow it at the ceiling and let it mix properly before hitting the plants.
How would you tackle HVAC if you were growing in a garage.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Hooking up a furnace will make carbon Monoxide,

thats not required here and WILL kill you

get the show up and running before committing to C02,

many very many growers change their minds once committed

..How would you tackle HVAC if you were growing in a garage....?

grow in a 4x4 tent until month 2/3 of veg then potup to 200-300 kiddie pools each with a 600w light

mount the kiddie pools on fork truck pallets 4x4'?

once organized by in a fork truck or fork trolley

stay organic ..thats where the money is

    good luck

ps again leave the C02 and HVAC until you are established

as each large grow is very different from the other

Get out your checkbook its going to get expensive filling propane tanks. We went thru 2 tanks at $35 a piece playing cards last week in a small well insulated 1 car garage. Get a huge propane tank and you can have it filled for half the price per pound but now your talking something like a 1000 pound tank at around $1 a pound is the going rate here. The small grill tanks are filled for about $1.75-2 a pound. We were barely keeping the garage warm, not warm enough for a grow. Co2 should be the absolute last thing to add to your grow. If you can't control tempts without ventilation you're wasting all the co2. Plus you need big enough lights to take advantage of it. Co2 can get costly. Dialing in your grow and turning over your air will be a much bigger benifit until you're ready. My buddy has a dialed in co2 grow. I thought about it a few years ago but I see no need for it
