Who owns a rosin press?

  1. I'm interested in the d nail rosin press, has anyone had any experience with this of any other brands???

  2. I was at "secret sesh" and they had a sponsor there one time that had a press. They would do little pouches of 2 Gs of flowers to make a half G of Rosin. It seemed to be a really good return compared to the hairstraightener method. It was also very fast. All in all one of those presses looked pretty good.

  3. The d nail press im looking at cost about 400. I'm really considering it, that's a pretty good return, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. But it seems like it be worth it right? Then I'll charge my buddy's to use it lol

  4. there's waaayyyy better designs out there.

  5. Could you suggest some solo? I kind of would like something less than 500, this petty much just for personal use. I saw the medisun press, I think that's around 600. Anything pneumatic is over 900.

  6. I couldn't really tell you. I've just been looking around instagram lately and t shirt press is probably one of the poorest designs. I'm going to make my own utilizing a 6 ton press from harbor freight instead of buying it. I expect it to cost less than $300 to build and deliver 1ton of pressure per Sq inch of plate material.

  7. I know the company Highfivevape is releasing a Rosin press for around $300. Not sure if they are avaiable yet or not but might be worth looking into.

  8. The t-shirt presses absolutely suck because they lack the pressure required. Sure, you're able to press a whole bunch at once but there is nowhere near enough pressure to make it work effectively.

I'd recommending building your own press like SoloToker says. It really wouldn't take too much time and money to get an effective setup.

I made my own 1-ton press for small batches and I'm very pleased with it.

  9. Could you throw up your blue prints of the press you made? Or if anyone else does it would help to see it should be done.

From my understanding of it is that despite how big the surface area of the press you really are only supposed to use small amounts. By small amounts I mean bud by bud or a few gs, not necessarily big amounts at a time.

They also do sell heating elements for presses, so u buy that n a press from anywhere and then basically assemble it,

  10. look for the 6 ton bottle press from harbor freight. From there you just need 2 steel plates and a method to heat them (and a way to control the heat). I plan on using cartridge heaters and a fan speed controller with and IR temp gun to adjust the temp.

  11. The press is easy to find, the plates and heating element not so much...

I actually found a pretty ghetto solution to the heating elements, haha. Gutted hair straighteners definitely work, I just need to work on attaching a dimmer switch to control the voltage, and thus the temperature.

    This is my press:

And I actually did write a tutorial on it a couple days ago, if you're interested:

With the way it's set up already, I'm getting consistent 20-25% yields off single presses of flower. Once I get the temperature control and better bar, I can't wait to see how it improves :D

  13. That's awesome dude! I can't believe the hair straightener can hold up to that kind of pressure. Please keep me updated on that! I'm about to look at your tutorial now

It's not pressure on the hair straighteners, they just heat up the steel plates, which are then used for the pressing surface. It's much more durable than a hair straightener.

  15. That makes much more sense and I watched your video. Did you happen to make a video of how you assemble it? I think I'd really only not know how to put on the metal plates, or does it screw in? I'd be better if I could see it up close, I'll have to study your video

I used 1mm stainless steel wire to attach the upper plate to the press. I looped it through the notches I filed in the upper plate and around the arm of the press, and then tightened it with pliers. I did the same on the other side. It is really sturdy and doesn't move around at all. These pictures might help a bit: [IMG]

  17. The high 5 rosin press looks like a great option too
