Hey guys, Question is in the title. I was wondering as I would like to pick up some real lights (hps / hid) and have to decide between a magnetic ballast and a digital one. I know the pros and cons of magnetic vs digital, I just cannot have any RF Interference. Does it happen on a broken ballast? Are some more prone to it than others? I will probably just go with a magnetic, but I would love to be persuaded otherwise. Thank you for your time, ~DIY
I found an interesting thread on this: http://forum.grasscity.com/lighting/1310131-digital-ballasts-rf-interference.html It contained another link that offers a solution. http://www.w0qe.com/RF_Interference/grow_light_electronic_ballasts.html
I have the phantom 2 and they claim to have proper rf shielding in place, & I'm happy to report this is correct.. í ½í¸€
Keep your leads as short as possible. They act like antennas. some brands come with a larger copper tinned leads like on the left. They all have at least the smaller Foil wrapped leads like on the right that also aids with possible interference. I took copper tinned leads into consideration while recently upgrading equipment. I've never had any problems before so should be extra safe now.
