Do digital ballasts really give off RF Interference?

  1. Hey guys,
Question is in the title. I was wondering as I would like to pick up some real lights (hps / hid) and have to decide between a magnetic ballast and a digital one. I know the pros and cons of magnetic vs digital, I just cannot have any RF Interference. Does it happen on a broken ballast? Are some more prone to it than others? I will probably just go with a magnetic, but I would love to be persuaded otherwise.

  2. yes they do create rf interference

  3. I have the phantom 2 and they claim to have proper rf shielding in place, & I'm happy to report this is correct.. 😀

  4. Keep your leads as short as possible. They act like antennas. some brands come with a larger copper tinned leads like on the left. They all have at least the smaller Foil wrapped leads like on the right that also aids with possible interference. I took copper tinned leads into consideration while recently upgrading equipment. I've never had any problems before so should be extra safe now.
