Hey guys. I really need some help here. I was pulled over for my registration a few days ago and was approached by the officer. The officer saw a bowl on my backseat and asked if I had anything else on me. I was polite and respectful and did everything accordingly and the officer told me I would most likely receive a conditional discharge. He gave me a (obliviously) ticket for my registration. And also he filled out a summons with my charge being 2c:36-2. Use or posses with intent to use drug paraphernalia to inhale a controlled dangerous substance or controlled substance analog, specifically by having in his possession a glass red and black smoking bowl containing marihuana residue. A disorderly persons offense. Now should I get a lawyer and what should I do from here? What am I facing on the day of court and so forth? I have zero priors, never been in hand cuffs or had any run ins. What should I do guys :/.
I would definitely hire a lawyer...it may cost you a little, but it might save you a lot of grief.... Oh, and never use a public defender....
alright thanks man. I'm 19 and really don't want that following me forever. I contacted one and they said they'll work with me. They wanted 750 upfront but he said if I can get 500 then they'll help me and I can pay the rest eventually.
that WOULD have been my argument but the cputt summons said it contained residue. Which was true. Sadly the bowl wasn't mine which is why I had no idea it was there
Go in to court and tell the judge to piss off, stop wasting your time, and legalize it, then walk out. Hope this helps.
