My soil is one that I made following the directions and measurements from the "Easy Organic Soil Mix for Beginners" thread, here http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1116550...

Ive had a few fails, and haven't figured out indoor tent, closet grows. Here is my journal, with the current grow starting on page 8--http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-medical-marijuan...

My actual mix is: Was cooked for 1 month like the directions say to do
    For the base went with
    (1part=5 gallon bucket):
    1 part: Peat Moss
1 part: Lava Rock ("screening" size;pea sized and a little bigger, rinsed to remove a lot of the dust it has)
*******Plus I added an additional 2-1pound bags of perlite********

    1 part: Locally Sourced Vermicompost/EWC
2 cups of Espoma "Organic Garden Lime"

    For the additional amendments
    (1 part=1 cup)
    2 parts: Espoma Tomato Tone
    1.5 parts: Dr.Earth Alfalfa Meal
2 parts: Down To Earth Neem Seed Meal
    4 parts:Dr.Earth Kelp Meal
    -------------------------------------------
Mixed that up. Then took 5.5 cups from that, and added to the base mix.

What type of medium; soil or hydro?
Soil mix from above, closely following the directions in the thread

    Indoors or outdoors?
Indoor bedroom closet grow in a 2x2 secret garden

    What strain?
Barney's Farm Amnesia Lemon is the Main problem...but OG Critical is also a slow grower. But its short and stout so that may just be due to phenotype?

    How old are the plants?
They have been in their current pots prolly 2 months or so

What type of lights and how many watts?
CLW SolarFlare 220w "Full Cycle" model

    How far from the lights?
~21 inches from Canopy top. Its in a ScrOG as of 2/3 weeks ago.

*****What is your watering frequency and source of water?
Was watering every 9+ days, but just watered about 3 days apart last watering. I initially thought this was an overwatering problems so have gone through several wet/very dry cycles to try and overcome the overwatering that people were telling me I was doing. I never have the plants sitting in water.

What, how much and when was it fed?
1.5 liters of water straight from the tap (my city has decent to good water. and even tho I'm a water snob when it comes to drinking it, I don't mind drinking the water from my city.)

What are the temps and humidity in the room?
thermometer says 64 low, and 84 as the high. Prolly hovers between 79-82 during the days and hits the lows at night. Live in a desert climate so highly doubt humidity is the issue.

    What size pots?
    3 gallon Smartpots

    Any bugs? Look real close.
Not that are visible to the eye. but I came across some Black Soldier Fly Larvae when I was filling the smartpots with the cooked soil right before I transplanted. I also saw what looked like a grub worm too. It wasn't white with a brown head like I'm used to seeing around my location or the ones I've had in my grass. Looked like the grub worm with the legs and all but was more of a gray looking color, even after wiping away a bit of dirt. Will add that pic.

    Any other pertinent info?

So I'm doing this "water only" mix but I'm an idiot noob and have been doing additional things.

I have been foliar feeding with neem and protekt about once a week....and haven't noticed any bad effects from that. About a month ago, I did a "SST" where I ground up malted barley, mixed it with water and added Fulpower Fulvic acid. The plants were just starting to lighten and look yellow at this point, so I was hoping that the enzymes would jolt things into a positive direction. Nope....I don't think the plants liked that at all.

So I went to water only watering and continuing with the neem+protekt weekly foliar. I was initially using RO water, than I used Tap water I let set outside for a couple days, and once rainwater. They seemed to have like the rainwater the most just off the eye test. RO water was prolly the one they liked least too.

The Amnesia Lemon has still never really bounced back....but is looking REALLY REALLY bad now! So thats why I'm here.

I told you all I was an idiot right? WELL....I was suspecting maybe a sulfur lockout. I watered 1.5 liters of water with Epsom Salt (added 1/4 Teaspoon to 1 gallon) .......AND I decided to add FulPower to the foliar feed I did a few days ago. I DEFINITELY think that the Amnesia Lemon does NOT like Fulpower. Even though the growth has always been slow, it seems to have stopped and the plant looks more skinny, sickly and yellower since that foliar feeding. Im planning to LITERALLY do water only from here on out and no more foliars. Luckily it rained a couple days ago, so I'm planning to do a heavy flush style watering of the plants.....might not help with overwatering, but of all the waterings I have done, the plants responded best to the 1 rainwater flush style watering i had don't before (prolly 3 or 4 weeks ago).

I think that covers it. Thanks for your time, cuz I know its a lot of reading! haha I tend to be too specific on this forum!

  2. Also just remembered about this as I was posting the pics....

the stems of both plants are purple.....but very purple on the plant that is the bigger problem. Just like most info, I got conflicting info about this....but it seems like the current position is that the purple stems aren't that bad a problem and is sometimes just a genetics thing. So I've tried not to pay attention to it, but it is one of the reasons why I was suspecting possible sulfur issues....and the reason I added the bit of epsom salt I did to the last watering.

  3. bump for attention

  4. They look hungry and thirsty. Also that Led you can drop lower. Put hand on top of plant, as long as light isnt too hot for you to keep back of hand there than the light isnt too close for plant. Its super hard to read the yellow text, what nutes are you giving?

  5. Im not giving any bottled nutes....but I have fed a Sprouted Seed Tea thing, and have been foliar feeding with neem and protekt....and did 1 foliar feeding just over a week ago with neem, protekt and FulPower.

Its an organic soil mix thats supposed to be water only. The plants in the last pic were taken the day after watering.

  6. Now its coming up blank lol whats your ph!? ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1447978272.169506.jpg

  7. haven't checked PH, cuz its my understanding that PH does not matter in organic soil....since the content of the soil mix is supposed to help regulate all that.

They are not thirsty. I was about to do a flush, but they are still moist. I think its over watering, even tho thats not supposed to be a problem with enough aeration. Im thinking its overwatering cuz things have gone south a bit more since last watering....ive also seen the leafs look like claws AND curl down at the tip.....the curling tips kinda improved before the last watering and it is back....so I'm still thinking its overwatering. Im also thinking overwatering cuz my other plant looks lighter than before as well.

Im freaking out right now cuz it looks way worse today....but i guess I'm just gonna wait for about another week....and then I do wanna do a flush of the plant. Prolly run 1 gallon of tap water, and 1 gallon of some rainwater i have left.

    fuck.

    organics isn't for me :(

  8. I had changed the text background to white. I initially had it set with black letters on, a yellow background so it'd be easier to differentiate between the question and my responses.....Now, i kept the background white, but I changed all the letter coloring to black. So hopefully you can see it now.

  9. Not having to monitor my ph is in no way true, do you have article that that was in, im sure a few would like to read. For not ever checking PH they grew fairly well, but id deff check ph w a decent meter. IMO regardless medium or hydro ph plays a huge factor in many things such as uptake, lockout, etc

  10. Repeating what I heard second hand from some people in the organics forum that have done lots of research, and have lots of experience. Im new to organics so can't do justice to a good explanation.

It's overwatering. Plain and simple, Im just trying to complicate things. Im not gonna look for ways to "help" cuz I have come across so much info....that contradicts each other. One thread with pics has the consensus saying one thing, and to do so-and-so to fix it....and then I come across another thread with pics, and the consensus there is telling them its something different, and to do so-and-so to fix it. Not this forum per say, but when you google and get all the results from all the grow forums. The plant is looking real shitty today. LOTS of yellowing, and the leaves looking like claws. It wasn't this bad a few days ago before the most recent watering.....which I only did 3 days after another watering instead of the longer wet/dry cycles when things were kinda improving/looking better than they are now.

Im not doing any more foliar, at least not with FulPower....might do another neem and protekt but not as likely. Gonna wait until they look dry before considering another water.

I know its overwatering, and I just keep shooting myself in the foot. Overwatering shouldn't be an issue for me since i have more than enough aeration.....but my EWC was SUPER dense. I know thats why I'm having these problems.....enough aeration by weight/parts, but i bet there is still compaction of the soil to some degree due to how dense the local EWC I sourced was.

Fuck it. We'll see how this turns out.

    Thanks for the replys NM!

  11. Look at the organic growers threads and journals and look at others
You will find out why just by the comparison

  12. Do you pH the water you give your plants? Water/feeds for soil grows need to be pH'd to a range of 6.3 to 6.7. Not doing this will cause root lock up and your plant can't take in nutrition when this happens. You don't have to let your tap water sit for days before you use it either. The treatment plants don't use chlorine anymore. They've switched to chloramine and it doesn't evaporate nor is there enough of it in the water to harm your plants. I've been watering mine (pH adjusted) straight out of the tap for a couple of years now with excellent results. The tap water has micronutrients in it that are beneficial to the plants. I've seen people get deficiencies when using RO water because it has been filtered of everything. TWW
