Is faith believing in a God that will save you and allow you to live forever in heaven? Is having faith a desparate clinging to the hope that there is more to life than what is here and now and that you won't have to rot in the ground for the rest of eternity when you die?

Faith is letting go of everything. Letting go of who you think you are. Letting go of any expectations. Letting go of fear. Letting go of any attachments. Faith is not believing there's a God. Faith is letting go of everything and dancing freely in the universe because you trust what you feel deep inside. It's giving yourself over to the present moment.

  2. I feel that man. I think faith is all these things, faith is a very spiritual, subjective thing, so in my eyes, what faith truly means depends on the individual.

  3. I think of this song when I think of faith.

  4. Trusting what you feel inside is Faith in part. Your conscience is linked to what you feel and what you know is right. It is in our nature, and instilled prior to birth. It is generally lost through adaptation to society. Not only is it of God; it is our personal direction under God. Often doing what feels right can be misleading if done for selfish reasons at any level, thus detaching is somewhat needed, like you said.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

  5. Faith is belief without evidence. That is nothing of what you described.

  6. @popsthebuilder have you read Kants groundwork for the Metaphysic of morals?

  7. No.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

  8. It's a great read if you're bored.

  9. This is my third day sitting with my thumb in the air hoping for a ride.
I've never liked Texas, and this is one reason why.

I got here two nights ago:

    I was going west,
    my ride north.

It was getting late and I've learned not to hitch at night,

so I walked the road until I came upon an abandoned factory.

Throwing my bag over the gate,
    then myself,
I landed on the bag and sprained my ankle:
it bruised up to my knee.

The next day I was able to drag myself to the road:

    no one picked me up.

    Now it's the third day.

    I've no food or water,
it's at least 90 degrees in the shade
    and there wasn't any;
the few cars passing by avoided me like the plague.

An hour ago a station wagon pulled over,

when I looked in I saw a creeper,
so I passed on the ride.

As I sat back down a great peace settled upon me,

“I'll be alright,” I told myself while laughing –
    and I really believed it.

    That's faith.

Not faith in some God mind you,
    but just faith in Life.

I've traveled the road for a while,
and have had many crazy experiences just like this,
    and always,
    things have worked out.

    And it did work out.

    I tightly tied my shoes,

    put on my pack
    and started walking:
not long after that I got a ride out of Texas.

  10. Walking any long distance down roads can drain ones morale. But things don't happen when we think we need them to, or how we think they should. Perseverance and Faith go hand in hand. It's the confirmation that is absolutely restoring in my opinion.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

  11. I didn't particularly care for Texas all that much.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.
