Tips on hiding smell?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by shadowstryker, Nov 17, 2015.

  1. Okay, so I've been smoking a little over half a year. I usually buy in eighths, so I've never run into this issue before. I decided it'd be smarter to buy a half ounce instead of an eighth because I'd be spending about half the price per gram. I got home, ground up a quarter ounce for my stash, and put the rest of it in a separate stash. Both stashes are contained in air-tight glass jars. Problem is, just the half o alone without being smoked stank up the entire house. It's been 12 hours and the smell is mostly gone except for my room, which still reeks of weed. Is there any way to stop larger amounts of herb from stinking up a place? I tried burning insence and using fans to get air circulating but no dice there was/is still a very, very noticeable smell.

  2. Sounds like your parents are going to bust you
    GG kid

  3. Best advice I can offer is to leave a window open and febreze the hell out of it, I don't wanna sound like a T.V advert but it will help lift the smell rather than mask it. I always leave towles and stuff around my door so even when I'm not in there it still blocks out some of the smell. Best of luck

  4. You don't want to use a product like Febreeze, that just makes it smell like shit and dope. You need an odor neutralizer. They sell them everywhere. It won't just mask the smell, it wipes it out.

  5. Get better jars. They're not air tight if you can smell them. As a parent don't febreeze, that's the most obvious way to get caught. The 1st time my kids start fabreezing shit, I know they will be hiding something. You can't stand there spraying fabreeze or any other product all day anyways

Haha it's all good. They know I smoke, but since I am 18+ they don't try to stop me. They just like to keep it out if sight out of mind. Because trust me, after it reeking the whole day it isn't exactly a subtle fact. I actually laughed because they asked if I was smoking in the house because "you have to smoke it for it to smell". Oh how naïve, but at least it was amusing.

  7. pinesol in the shower, will make the entire house smell like pinesol...came up with that shit in college...hot steamy shower, pinesol, sploof, don't let the bowl cherry and mason jars

You could try taking a jar with you when you meet your dealer, that way soon as you leave it's already sealed up and won't stink.
Although if you open it at home then its just gonna smell, thats how it is. Used to spray febreeze and it seemed to cover up fairly well. The smell is just something that is hard to avoid when you have good weed

  9. Use Ozium and glass jars/ pill bottles for containers

  10. 24 hours and half a can of febreeze did the trick.

  11. Real glass mason jars.

    Ozium.

Open window with fan, if opening jar in room.

Don't forget about stinky pipes and grinders.

  12. Kilner jars for storage ona for the smell.

  13. hire a pack of mutant bikers to rampage through the house and the parents will just attribute the smell to them...

  14. Lotsa people said glass jars, good ones, and that's good advice, but there's more to it than that. First things first, the jar has to have a really good seal. Ball Mason brand canning jars, the kind with a threaded band that screws on the jar, and a separate "lid" with a thin rubber gasket that fits over the mouth of the jar and under the screw-on band. You can get decorative styles of this type of jar at WalMart, made for canning jelly and jam. The coolest ones are short and square with decorative patterns cast into the glass, and will hold 1/4 oz or better depending upon the stuff.
But you will probably find the secret weapon in yo mama's [IMG]kitchen. Reynolds brand oven bags. They make a box of turkey size bags that will be too big (unless you have a pound of stash, good problem to have, don't complain and don't brag). But Reynolds also makes a "LARGE" size for meat & poultry up to 8 pounds. 5 bags to the box. Hopefully "yo mama" already has a box of these in the kitchen.
Honestly. Put your weed in one of these bags, put a long twist-shut in the top of the bag, double it back on itself & use one of the little re-usable ties that comes with the bags to secure it. You can take this anywhere and it won't smell.
Until you open the bag, take your jar out, open it & roll one. Then you're on your own. Unless you want to invest in a good carbon filter and fan at the local hydro store. You can put one of these in the room with you while you smoke and it will clean the smell in a few minutes.

Try using some actual airtight jars.

Also why are you pregrinding half your weed?

That serves no purpose but to make the area reek of weed followed by it rapidly losing it's smell and taste(faster than if it was not grinded) and moisture.

They are airtight canning jars. I pre-ground half of it because it's convenient for me and I only needed two jars instead of three if I ground half of it up.

  17. They're not airtight if you can smell the weed outside of it.

You can do whatever what you with your weed, but just saying at the cost of losing moisture and taste fast to save like 12 seconds grinding it is a heavy price to pay

  18. I usually like to grab and smoke quickly on the go, like as I'm going out the door to work or something. As long as it gets me high I'm good, and the flavor has been fine so far so I'll probably end up smoking that q before it loses much flavor anyway (I smoke almost every day...often several times a day).

Why don't you do what growers do? Buy a small centrifugal fan that runs around 200 cfm and make/buy a carbon filter. This running on low will be fairly quiet in your room. It will remove any smell and not leave a febreeze smell that is telling to your parents. Very easy to do. Small fans are around a hundred bucks though but that's a one time expense compared to $4 bottles of febreeze.
