okay...so im switching over to organics

however i have a very small budget for seeds and soil..around 120 basically..

build a soil ..living organic soil..i have room for about 4-7 gallon pots..but my budget..it looks like i can afford around 2 cubic feet..
is it feasible to just grow in 5 gallon pots? i know the yield isnt what i want (around 3 to 4 ounces per plant) but i feel like i would get a better overall yield with 3 5 gallon pots growing 3 different strains..

    http://buildasoil.com/products/living-organic-soil
    1/2 Part Worm Power
1/2 Part Oly Mountain Fish Compost
    1 Part Sphagnum Peat Moss
    2/3 Part Pumice
    1/3 Part Rice Hulls
Now with 5% Pre-Charged Colorado Bio Char!!
    Nutrients included in the soil:
Acadian Kelp Meal @ 1/2 Cup per cubic foot
Neem Cake @ 1/2 cup per cubic foot
Crustacean Meal @ 1/2 cup per cubic foot
Brix Blend Basalt @ 2 Cups Per Cubic Foot
Gypsum Dust @ 1 Cup Per Cubic Foot
Oyster Flour @ 1 Cup Per Cubic Foot

every review i see says this stuff is amazing..im worried it might be too hot for seedlings however reviews i see say its fine.

so 2 cubic feet which would give me 3 bags and some extra to put in solo cups for my seedlings..but some people suggest just planting into its final home pot to ease stress on transplanting..

now does anyone have any xp with this premade organic soil from BAS? will i be to plant seedlings in this mix, or do i need a seedling mix? do i absolutely need extra EWC for topdress and making ewc slurry? i would prefer to grow water only..i dont have the money to buy the topdress stuff or anything to make teas with..after this grow and with tax money i can upgrade to my final perpetual design..

    but for now im getting

#1 Worm Power Worm Castings Vermicompost
    2 Gallon - Large Bag
    $6.22

    Living Organic Soil
1 Cubic Foot Bag with Plus Shipping
    $35.00

    Barley Straw Mulch
    Large Bag
    $4.00
    $45.22
=plus 41 bucks for shipping (shipping costs are just as expensive as the products)

    so about 85 bucks..

will this be enough to help me have a good harvest?

now the seeds..is it feasible to grow autos in organic soil or is it a waste?

i have a few seeds picked out on bonza ..

    barney farm vanilla kush 10.43
    Emerald Triangle Blueberry Headband 11.43
    Hash Bomb 9.73

so with insured shipping it totals to be 43.11

what do u guys think? should i do 2 7 gallon or 3 5 gallon? fem seeds planted in final home or use solo cups with seedling mix? or use autos which have to planted in final home to avoid transplant. will ewc be enough for topdress and ewc slurry? i have some happy frog 5-5-5 dry fert i guess i could use for small amount of nutes when i topdress..

i will be using a 3 by 4 tent 6 feet tall..i have a 180 watt mars hydro led ufo for veg..plus plently of cfl side lighting if needed..and 400 watt hps for late veg and flower..

also when topdressing? do i remove mulch then put it back on or dress on top of mulch and remulch?

  2. Wow. Lots of questions.
Soil is okay for seedlings. I had no issues.
Also okay for water only is the general consensus. EWC for top dress is a good idea.
Considering your tent size I'd go 5 gal pots.
Yes remove the mulch before top dressing. I always have.
I love BAS but your crazy to spend 41$ shipping some mulch. Better off getting some alfalfa straw locally. To each their own. Better bang for your buck is to invest in some 200x aloe and coconut powder
Your results wil downed highly on you grow space being dialed in. But you've got a good soil there bud. Good luck.

  3. thanks..and the shipping costs are mainly for the soil..i did a comparison of just the soil and ewc without the mulch an it was like a 2 dollar difference..i guess its based on weight..

and thanks for the advice..and i live in an area where organic growing components are scarce..the nearest ewc source is 300 miles away lol..my space is pretty good..my fan is good at maintaining that 70 to 80 degree temps..and i have a great humidifier to add it bc my place is very dry..

and my bad about the multidude to questions but i would rather have my worries assauged than deal with it during the grow..
would u suggest planting germed seeds directly in their final home or should i do a week or two in a solo then transplant?
the aloe and coconut powder..is that for seedlings and veg?

  4. Yes it is. Coconut and aloe are outstanding additions to anyone's watering regimen.
I'd suggest a couple pot ups. Something like solo cup to 1 gal to 5 gal. It just allows better control of root growth i feel. I hate I have a seedling waterlogged in a 5 gal pot for 3 weeks between watering. Haha
Smart to ask the questions now for sure.

  5. I'm getting 3-4 oz dried flower from 2 gallon geo pots on SIP bins. I grow 8 plants in 2ft x 3ft x 5ft flowering tent with a platinum p300 LED light.

  6. decided to run 2 7 gallon plants..

thinking of doing a 4 to 6 week veg time..doing lst and topping to get as many top colas popping out..but im wondering if i should just fill my top canopy..keep them relativly short and then flip em to 12 12 ..
