Bongs; water or no water?

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by FellowGoodDoer11, Nov 10, 2015.

  1. Hi all, new to GC.
For my first post I would like to see who prefers dry hits over filtrated hits. (or vice versa)
Now normally, I have to use water to cool the hits, I really hate harsh hits, but the other day I accidently dry hit my TAG triple frit and was incredibly surprised at how smooth it was. I was using an ash catcher as well (no water) for extra milking space. I found that without water the smoke moved through the bong slower and when I went to rip it; nothing but nice cool smoke. My thoughts are so long as there's adequate milking space water isn't really needed, plus you get higher and your glass stays way cleaner.
    Thoughts? Which do you prefer?

I also want to add that while normally my triple frit is very smooth it is actually as or more smooth without, plus I don't lose that small bit of thc in the water and on the glass.

  3. I dont know about all that but your glass will get just as dirty if not dirtier without water

  4. with water of course

  5. I've accidentally ripped my bong with no water and it was harsh as fuck. I always have water in my bong along with water in my ash catcher and ice [IMG]

  6. I always use water, I just smoke out of a pipe if I don't want a hit with water.

  7. Always water and usually with ice. I'd just use a pipe for dry hits

  8. I don't see any reason to smoke a dry bong. It's a water bong so there shall be water. When you somke something dry get a pipe or something

    Hi Grass City members,
I did some research and couldn't find any information on this... Has anyone ever used water in their dropdown, kind of like using it as a diffuser?

    *Edit* For a rig.

    Thanks
    -Kyle

  10. If you are talking about an ash catcher - yes I put water. Not sure what a dropdown is

  11. Super unleaded.

A drop down is a piece of glass that I'm pretty sure is primarily used for rigs, and it keeps the heat away from your piece while you're torching the nail. But I was curious if anyone puts water in their drop down or just uses it to catch claim... or if you could put water in it and still catch claim like a normal rig would if it has a diffuser on the bottom. Hope that makes sense lol.

  13. Its called a water bong for a reason
if you don't want to use water just use a regular pipe [IMG]

  14. Ah, well I am no help there ha - sorry!

  15. That's interesting, I've never thought of that. I don't think it would work great from a diffusion stand point.

  16. using water is the whole point of a bong. without water it's basically just a big pipe. plus if you have a nice bong with percs and other attachments you love to see all the bubbling and smoke formation.

  17. Don't get me wrong I'm no newbie, i think it's a matter of preference and technique. My buddy thought it was harsh as fuck when he tried it but he was ripping it too fast. You want to pack a snap to your likings and light it up quick but then milk it through your bong realllllllly slow

Also it is true water takes some thc out, and more so with a trip frit cause it diffuses so much. I know it sounces stupid not to use water, like "smoke a pipe then" but I can't take a .1 or .2 snap out of a pipe without dying

Plus my bong stays super clean, normally the water smears resin and shit all over the inside but with no water all the resin only builds up on the percs and it's an easier clean

And didn't make you cough? Isn't that smoke without water irritate your throat?
