Population control - unethical or inevitable?

  1. Unethical.

  2. basically nailed it.

    Population control is evil.

We only need it in the first place because if socialism.

We should allow people to compete in a free market and possibly starve if they fail, instead of feeding all the lesser people than having to choose who cannot have babies later....

  3. There are definitely people being kept alive that wouldn't survive otherwise. That's unethical too if you ask me.

Interesting chart of population projections - India tops China!

    pop-projection.jpg

Using the current world's annual growth rate of about 1.3%, world population in 2100 would be about 21 billion. It's a shame the world's consumable resources aren't growing at a 1.3% exponential growth rate.

But all this means is, we are either going to have to willingly control our numbers while we still reside on this planet- or eventually have these decisions made for us. [barring shit like nuclear war, killer epidemics, etc]

When there's only so much to go around between more and more consumers, slicing the pie in more and more pieces has obvious and quite predictable results.

  5. Offer an incentive.
$1000 per abortion and spay in the West and crackheads will be biting your hand off...

  6. Then your just going to have women getting abortions as much as possible for the paycheck. Sex would be much easier to obtain however. Woman. "Can you help me out I really want these new shoes from Macy's I need you to knock me up so I can get an abortion paycheck." Man, "Hell yeah, lets get the party started!"

  7. They would only get paid out once. The spay would take care of that.

  8. Inevitable. We're depleting our resources without putting anything back into the soil

Birth control should be available worldwide

Inconvenient truth - Poverty benefits the privileged i.e. everyone here. imagine if everyone had a closet full of cloths, smartphone, 2 cars, house, money, food

5 billion ppl driving everyday. imagine the pollution. we're animals after all. if there's shelter and food we automatically start mating, we're programmed to do so. on top of tht ppl keep eating because their biological programming is trying to prevent them from starvation. we're slaves to evolution and we're destroying the planet

doesnt matter tho, humans are doing the sun wind's job. keep consuming youll be dead tomorrow anyway fuck the future generations. humans are adaptable

  9. the inconvenient truth is that population control is only necessary because we feel the need to take from the privileged and give to the poor.

Population control isn't necessary if people are allowed to starve, which is morally superior to mass graves, genocide, sterilization, and a dictatorship deciding who can and cannot have kids.

Good old fassioend competition/evolution just as nature intended.

  10. Oh no I poked the bear ;)

We're beyond evolution at this point. It's time to take responsibility for our species
Just access to birthcontrol thts all

  11. we will never be beyond evolution. We are not above nature.

Even in the modern world evolution still applies.

Things that work are more successful (capitalism)

    -Yuri

  12. obesity is a bigger problem than starvation in many parts of the world. im watching ppl around me get bigger and im paying their medical bill, dialysis, diabetes meds, scooters. even capitalism is taking a beating because of our biological programming. i want to invest my money in factories and businesses not mr and mrs cheeseburger

we will consume and consume until there's nothing left. the best we can do is make sure there are less ppl on earth. everyone should have 2 kids at most

it takes a village to raise a child. in our day and age you have a couple raising a village

    we're totally above nature!

  13. supply and demand.

Obesity is a problem because we have an overabundance of resources

We are a long long way from needing population control

Just simply because some people dont possess the inner ability to not stuff their faces with food, does not mean we have an 'overabundance' of resources. I cant fathom by what logic you somehow managed to reach that conclusion, that just because people gorge themselves to an early heart attack on macdonalds cheeseburgers, we must have too much resources.
Its just human nature, thats all. In fact statistically speaking, when you reach a population of +7 billion motherfuckers, youre bound to have people whos only aim in life is to arrive early 33 days early for holiday shopping and set up tents so that they can save a bunch of $ on crap they dont need. Spend money they dont have on crap they dont need. Hell if you want to get really optimistic about the human race, they only reason we dont rape and pillage as much as we used to is because we have access to hot showers, xbox, edible womens panties. Its keeping us in check.

edit another thing Ive wanted to add to prove my point, during the California drought, some rich assholes didnt give a fuck and continued to use up to 11.8 million gallons/ year, dubbed ' The Wet Prince of Bel- Air.' By your logic California doesnt have a water shortage problem because of that one rich ass hat.

  15. I think you are confused.

I didn't say we have an abundance because we have fat people. I said we have fat people because we have an abundance.

Its a fact that the earth can support many times our current population. The issue is efficient and distribution

I find it funny that the people who are usually in favor of population control are the ones who help do the most damage to earth. Alot of folks in third world countries don't use up alot of resources and the landscape is for the most part unscathed and these people learn how to work with nature because they need too.

Here we keep building and consuming yet we're the ones who should live because we're better off? The fact that we're better off is why we're fucking the planet in the first place [IMG]

Population control will never be feasible. If you think people will allow themselves to be wiped out because they are in grave situations think again.

You wanna save the world, those poor people might be your best bet because us who are used to running water right from the tap aren't about to give up our lifestyle for the earth's health Lol.

  18. Like I've said before and nobodies addressed, its the developing world or the third world as it has been known that has a growing population. The West has a declining population so you are getting population control in the West thanks to capitalism as people become more interested in shiny gadgets rather than having children they aren't having children in order to free up more disposable income. So really by supporting population control you are opening yourself up to charges of Nazism or racism because your essentially saying that non white people need to have their population controled because white people are already declining rapidly in birth rate along with Japan. I'm not going to call anyone racist because I don't like to throw around that card and I don't think thats where people are coming from. But its undeniable that the West and thus white people have a decling population the only reason the US has a healthy population replacement rate is because of immigration from the developing world.
