Help removing starter on 1988 f150 xlt lariat 5.0

    Is anyone familiar with this truck? I want to know if I have drop the exhaust to remove the top bolt that holds the starter in place. It seems as though the exhaust pipe is so close to the starter I don't have enough leverage to remove the bolt.


    Or is there a special socket attachment(s) I need? It also appears the bottom bolt is rounded so I will also need to know a way to remove that as well.

    IF you rounded the bolt, you'll need a set of these nut & bolt extractors....

    Pro tip:
    Use hand tools. And a lot of heat ;)

    The top bolt needs 2 extension with a wobble on each.
