so i was flipping through channels and decided o watch "Susannah of the Mounties" because i am a big softy like that. love old movies, just absolutely love them! anyway, in one scene she {Shirley Temple} is making a truce with the little indian boy she has been fighting with. at the end of making said truce they smoke a peace pipe. now if it was just tobacco then i would imagine her getting a little sick maybe? well she kind of goes through those motions sort of, but she does stagger around all buzzed and then when she stumbles outside she looks around with this look of someone who is definitely high for the first time. then the camera makes as if to look through her eyes and it shows her vision all goofy like she was high. she really did smoke that pipe too! was inhaling and blowing smoke lol! that was of course in 1939 when laws protecting children were somewhere around oh, zero fucks given. it was pretty crazy to see her all buzzed though. every once in a while someone puts something like that in a movie like that.
