Fabric grocery bags/ smart pots

  1. Went out today bout a couple yards of Eco felt grabbed the wife's hot glue gun and started cutting felt to make 8-3 gallon smart pots

After burning the shit out of myself on the glue, slicing my finger, and producing a single bag like 3 hours later, I glance in the corner and there's a pile of those smallish fabric shopping bags,

Anyone have any reason to think these would be any worse/ better/ different, useable/ unusable???

They are only 1$ a piece , pretty thick and come in different colors and sizes whee I live

I can't be the first person to think of thisl ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1445135530.689616.jpg

  2. I used fabric pots before proper ones and I found them more a hastle and I had to water every single day

  3. And the only reason I can see why not is maybe it will strip the colour out of them and into the waste water which in turn the roots will drink could be bad I'm not entirely sure of this just opinion

  4. Wash them with baking soda only and use 2-3 together for stability and use a drip pan under it. They work great.

  5. It looks to me like they would work fine and are a heck of a lot cheaper than smart pots. I used the smart pots a couple of times and didn't really like them. I like the sturdiness of a real pot because I tend to manhandle mine a bit. LOL Give her a shot and let us know how it goes. TWW

  6. Yeah, I poked around a little bit and folks have been using these to grow everything for a long time,

The wife is going shopping tonight, gonna be funny when she goes in her trunk to grab all her bags and there all gone,
I'm way limited on space , that's the reason I'm gonna try to use the fabric, smaller pots with less restriction on the roots , ah who knows, prolly just thinking to much
