Question on transplanting

  1. I was wondering if when I transplant from one container to another for indoor gardening, can i use fertilizer during that transplant. Or even Cal/mag? Thanks!

  2. It depends on your medium and nutrients. If they are going in to a larger container of soil that already has nutrients then there is no need to feed. If you are using a soil-less medium that is contains absolutely no nutrients then I would use 25% of the normal nutrient concentration to water in during transplant.

  3. How about cal/mag? I have some little Sour Diesel ladies who look a little deficient already. Could I treat them during transplant or should I just treat them next watering? Soil is my medium.

  4. A little cal/mag shouldn't hurt but probably isn't needed either. Personally I would make the judgement based on expected length of time between waterings. If I though it was going to be a week or so before watering again I would probably add the cal/mag. If I know I am going to be watering again in three days I wouldn't worry about adding any.

  5. If you're using good formulated grow soil, you shouldn't have or need to give them anything with a transplant. You run the risk of burning them. Try to resist the temptation or urge to constantly be doing something to them. These are basically weeds and have survived for thousands of years without our fancy lights and indoor setups. If you give them the basics, they'll try their best to grow...period. In order for a plant to become deficient, it has to grow for a little while at least so if these are young, I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with them. TWW
