Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm about to start my first ever indoor grow. I'm using Berry Auto Fem seeds that I got from www.mjseedscanada.com. Right now I'm in the midst of waiting on my 2'x3'x5' Xen Lux grow tent to arrive in the mail, so I haven't even gotten around to germination.
I only have a few photos at the moment, but I'll put up more.

Here are some of the details of my set up.

    For light I'm using a 125W CFL

    2'x3'x5' Xen Lux grow tent
10 Gallon Sterlite / Rubbermaid Tub
3 Netpots with Hydroton Clay Pebble / Rockwool grow medium
Water pump connected to 3 drips
Inline Exhaust Blower Fan with Carbon Filter for ventilation

Here is where I have a really newb question; since these are Auto's I know they are going to need an 18/6 light cycle. However, my question is are my drips running water to the plant for the full 18 hour cycle that the light is on? Basically, are my light and water pump both connected to my grow timer?

Question 2, what are the ideal temps and humidity level I'm going to want inside of my tent?

Thanks a lot, and I appreciate all and any input.

  2. Sounds like you need to read up on hydroponic growing. Go to the threads here on the forum and look around at the topics and see if you can find out some info on what you are attempting to do. I would never encourage a new inexperienced grower to start out with hydro. If you have no concept of the plant and how to grow it in soil, starting out trying to grow them in water isn't going to be easy. Manging pH and nute levels tends to get technical and if you don't have much experience growing the plant, you don't know whether it's your hydro setup that's causing you trouble or if there is something wrong with your plant. It would be smart to grow a couple in soil first just so you can get an idea of the plant and how it grows. If you insist on going hydro, you better buy yourself a darn good pH tester and TDS/EC tester pen so you can manage the technical aspects of the hydro. The cheap pH pens that you see advertised are just about worthless and since the whole thing hinges on the pH balance, make sure you get one of quality that you can count on the readings being correct. I never got a good outcome trying to use the cheap pH up and down kits with the drops either. Your zone is so specific that you have no way of knowing how close or how far out your numbers are. You can use tap water. There are actually micronutrients in it that are good for the plants, so don't go out and buy water for your grow. You'll grow broke if you have a reservoir of any size. LOL People talk about letting the chlorine evaporate. What they don't know is that none of the water treatment facilities use chlorine any more. They use chloramine and it will not evaporate out if you let it sit 30 days. LOL Good luck with it whichever way you decide to grow. But I would spend some time here on the forum reading the posts of new growers just starting out with the hydro and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about. Find yourself a mentor...someone with some serious growing experience who has a setup similar to yours and spend time in their journals and logs. You will have to know and understand the basics of doing this and it's a bit complicated to someone who has never done it before. Just be sure you know what's up before you dive in and realize that you're lost. Good luck! TWW

  3. I've literally been buried in these forums for about 6 months just prepping, so I really appreciate it! I do have a Extech PH100 Meter and spent the past few days just maintaining a consistent 5.5 which hasn't seemed to be too much of an issue as of yet.

  4. You want the humidity to be 70-80 when first sprouting your plants. Once they start growing bigger and have a decent amount of leaves, lower the humidity to about 40-50 in preperation for flowering. As far as temperatures go, try to keep them around 70-80F and never above 90F. If you want to increase your yields id try to read up on scrogging and LST as growing your plants with a few large vertical buds wont be as good as having the buds spread out so they all get an even amount of light which means bigger more potent buds.

  5. Thanks a lot, huge help. And am I correct in assuming that my drips are feeding water to the plant for the entire 18 hours that my light is on? Then once it's lights out, the pump should stop also? I'm almost certain this has to be right, just need reassured.

  6. I've never done a hydro grow so im not entirely sure. I would think that you would constantly have water flowing to prevent algae growth or other nasties that might have an effect on your roots but dont take my word for it cause im not experienced with hydro.

  7. Btw you should stop adding nutrients the last week before harvest to clense your plants. The smoke will be a lot smoother and taste cleaner (IMO)

  8. I'm not sure I'm gonna go crazy with nutes and all. I've read a lot about Auto's doing just fine without.

  9. Ive just planted autos today. Going with a dwc system. Have also been prepping and reading everything I could find for months. This hydroponic business seems very technical.
    Best of luck!
