Can I grow in this

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Thatstonerkid112, Oct 8, 2015.

  1. I planning on growing 2 plants in my room and I have this armore and I want to start growing in it but I want to know if it is safe and will not start a fire since it's wood. Can I put aluminum foil to grow.

  2. Aluminum foil is a waste of time. It does not provide the reflectivity that one would think it does. You can grow in anything pretty much as long as you've got enough room. The problem is going to be managing the heat from the lights. The CFL's aren't so hot during the veg stage, but flowering with CFL's doesn't give you much of a yield. HPS lights get hot anywhere you put them, but the plants absolutely love them and produce well under them. LED's work well, but even in a confined space will produce heat and are quite expensive if you buy something of quality. You need to do a fair amount of research on a micro grow and see just what it takes to pull one of these off and make it work. TWW

  3. I know I can but will it catch fire. It gets hot and I don't want my house burning down

  4. Don't put HPS lights inside a cabinet. Way too much heat. CFL's will give you light, larfy buds but they wont start a fire. You will still need fans for exhaust, intake and air movement. The aluminum foil is bad. Better to just paint the inside white.

  5. Fire and led in their with fans and your set to go

  6. I had a wood cabinet with HPS lights in it. Long as you cool the cabinet you will have no problem. No matter which lights you use you have to have air flow or you will get poor results. Want reflectivity? As said before Just paint the inside white. Yep plain old white and you will get plenty of light bouncing off the walls.

  7. Liquid nitrogen cooling should keep things cool enough. You'll be good.

  8. I use dry ice when growing in confined spaces like this. Keeps things cool and the grow is perfect.

  9. Works for me. 250w hps in a 2x2x4 box produces about 6oz of tight bud each run. I wouldn't bother with cfl, the harvest doesn't justify the time and money spent.

  10. Fire hazard concerns don't mix with aluminum foil. It reflects light up to about 80%, but also insulates heat and may reflect hot spots. A simple and moderately discrete method to increase reflectivity within the cabinet would be to paint the insides white.

It's not magically effective, but I'd argue that it's better than foil.
