Hey guys, Mr. Swank here. I recently dabbed for the first time and loved it. Since I've cut back on smoking due to school, dabs seemed like a very cost effective way to get high since my tolerance is a lot lower now. However, I don't have the money to invest in a full dab rig. This is why I wanted to use the bong my cool ex roommate gave me as a dab rig. I'm afraid it may be too big though. I don't have a ruler or anything like that, but I estimate it's about a foot high, with a diameter of maybe 2 to 2.5 inches. Would that be too big? I know rigs are supposed to be smaller, but as stated above I don't have enough cash to invest in a rig. I don't however want to have to struggle to hit the bong if it works or even worse, not be able to get a hit and waste my time and limited money. Can you guys help me out?
I think it's fine I used a 24" roor for Dabs for a long time just make sure you clear it , I used crushed ice to lower the volume inside and it helped me .
That's reassuring. I don't have a crushed ice maker so I guess I'll just hulk out on some ice haha. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'll need to use it for dabs, obviously a nail, but I'm hoping not much else. I think I have an 18mm downstem, so I'm trying to see if they make a nail that will plug right into the downstem. I'm not very knowledgeable concerning bongs, always had pipes and blunts to use, so we'll see how it goes haha.
Youll have to get an 18mm to 14mm adapter for the nail and dome to fit probably 10$ at your lhs. Basically the bigger the bong the more airey and less flavorful your dabs will be. 1 ft should be fine percolators also take a lot of the flavor away. Sent from my N860 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I'm considering going dome less due to what seems to be less cost and the fact that's what I used last time, thus more familiarity. I'm fine with it being a bit airy, I nearly died last time, could barely breathe and talk, and right after busted out in sweat. It may have been underpurged or low quality, it was pretty dark and the people who gave me the free hit aren't the most drug intelligent. I'll head down to the lhs with my downstem and see what they have, and get myself ready to dab!
Anything with a glass on glass joint can be used to dab. Anything. I've used crazy portable setups made from just domes and adapters to a 20" double showerhead. And what you describe happening was probably due to high temps, as in how harsh it was and not being able to talk and all that... Get a cheap quartz banger to start out with, and use very low temps. There should be a tiny puddle you have to soak up with a q-tip every time. It's smooth as it gets that way. Unless you're taking massive dabs you shouldn't even feel it going down really.
I just got a domeless Ti nail because I know I'd break anything else. It fits right into my downstem. I've also got a torch, but the kicker is that I've got no wax! Trying to sort that out, hopefully will be taken care of by later tonight or tomorrow.
