Ebb Flow Experts What should i do?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by fortphoenix, Oct 6, 2015.

  1. Hey guys, starting an ebb & flow in 3x6 botanicare trays with 36 plants plan on cloning 1-2 weeks then vegging 2 weeks (4 weeks from clone to flower) if that helps
but i need a couple suggestion on what I should do…

    1) I want to clone AND veg in an aerocloner, then flower in the f&d trays but I'm not sure how i can do this. what i want to do but I'm not sure if i can is root in the aerocloner (so i can root with speed) then somehow place the clone in rockrool for veg without stunting/hurting it… and once it was time for flower should i just place it in a 6” rock wool cube. is this possible/productive?

    2) what medium do you think would be ideal for my setup if not rock wool??? I'm also thinking about using hydroton in net pots .. once the clone is rooted and ready for veg i can put the plant in a pot with hydroton and once once its time for flower i can put the netcup with the hydroton/plant in a bigger pot with more hydroton

so what you guys think? any help/feedback is hugely appreciated… also! was wondering what you guys would think is ideal for lights 1 1k gavita per table or 2 600w? THANK YOU!!!

its possible, what you do is buy the smaller rockwool cubes, 2x2. when you take them out of the cloner break the cube in half, then place the very bottom of the stem where the roots start in the center of one half of the broken cube, set the other half on gently, use a string to tie it together, wet it. now take that and set it in the netpot and surround it woth hydroton, put that into your flood table.. whallah.. im a fan of 600's they don't get the hotspots the 1000 watt does its personal preference though.
good luck on your journey, I do this all the time so I know it works.. [IMG]
the bigger cubes can be problematic in a flood table...

  3. so if i have it in the aerocloner for 4 total weeks wouldn't the roots be too long for any pot? what do i just spiral the roots into the hydroton/pot? also what size pot would you suggest for plants/hydroton in the f&d tray on an indica flowered for 8 weeks and vegged/rooted 4 weeks?

I use the 5" pots.. when you place the cube with clones in them, thread the roots thru the bottom of the net pot a bit, some may spiral that's ok.then add the oto the net pot. they rest will find their way thru.. in your table will be hydroton as well right?

  5. ahhh thanks but thats also the dilemma i have... i would rather not have to fill a whole 3x6 table with hydroton. i have kind of zoned rockwool out of the equation but heres the dilemma now... i was either going to

    1) root/veg for 4 weeks in aerocloner with no medium (maybe put hydroton in netcups once its rooted?), then for flower i was going to put them in a larger pot/smartpot with hydroton (only hydroton in pot/netcup) and just let them grow like that in flower (3x6 tray, 36 plants)

    or

    2) root/veg for 4 weeks in aerocloner with no medium (maybe put hydroton in netcups once its rooted?) then for flower.. in the trays i could cut holes in the (botanicare)tray cover for the 36 netcups and have the netcups suspended in the air with hydroton and the roots can just grow freely in the tray (only hydroton in netcup)... but idk how high the water would have to go.

what do you think?? any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

just nix the netpot and put the small tied cube into the smart pot fill with hydroton , then the smart pots right in the tray it will work

  7. ohhh okay i gotcha. and given the size of the plants at the end of veg & flower what size smart pot would you suggest?

  8. id get the biggest ones that fit your table, (number of plants)all the roots will be within them so maximize space.

  9. great point... thank you very much yoda i appreciate it

  10. No worries my friend that's what we are here for, good luck on your project, don't forget to show me once you have em up.
    Cheers,
