Introductions are in order. Been doing some form or another of organic gardening for a few years. Before i knew anything about the soil food web i used liquid organics like earth juice and age old organics. Then a friend turned me onto thinking of the soil as it's own organism. Things starting churning slowly, but they did. So, then i encountered TLO style growing via Rev. Although it did get me very good results i felt that the approach was incomplete. After that i hit up the ROLS thread over at ic and did much reading and revision of my former view of plants and how to interact with them.

Now i use no till and recycled soil indoors and out with, to me, exceptional results. My approach is a bit loose for some people, but i find it works for me. Some of my soil is around 3 and a half years old and appears to be getting healthier over time. Green and brown mulches figure prominently in my growing as do sprouted seed teas and compost and earth worm castings. Where i am located it is fortunate to have an abundance of plants that other people don't use, but that are great for wildcrafting. Lambsquarters, Stinging Nettle, Comfrey, grass clippings, mints, borage and many more are around and i use them when i think the soil needs it.

Ratios i use, but recipes not so much.

I can get a long winded, so i'll just skip to some of what i am working with currently. I'll also fill in some backstory with older pictures to help establish some credibility too. [IMG]

No idea how to get these in order, but i hope the descriptions will make sense.
Legend: BBB is Blueberry Blast F1 from Snowhigh seeds. THH , TOGK X Afghani is a (Tahoe kush- og) X Afghani (IBL) cross. The Goji OG is an F2 and the DDT X BBB is a Thai dominant phenotype of DDT crossed with BBB.

I'll go into the genealogy of the various cultivars later as i feel pedantic now. [IMG]

    Here are some room shots.
Bottom left in 1st pic is BBB then top left is THH.

This shows the new females and some rosemary and sage plants as well.
There are 3 rosemary cultivars and 3 sages, but i only have one sage in
    there at the moment.

Middle left center is the Goji OG F2, the clockwise is the DDT (Thai
pheno) X BBB, and directly below her is the TOGK X Afghani.

BBB #1 at day 12 flowering 11/13. She will appreciate the extra light intensity i'm sure. Was under Hortilux 400W SHPS+ 75W mixed spectrum fluorescent bulb Now 1K Horti SHPS.

At the top is the THH. She is not going into flower just yet.

Seedlings between 7-9 days old now.

THH cuttings. Even though i have showcased the plant before i like to show cuttings because it helps me stay on task.

  2. Looks good in here I heard that THH will do amazing OD.

Subbed up and excited to watch :)

  3. great looking group of ladies you have there, eyeC!

    subbed up!

    :smoke: :pass:

  4. Thanks CCC. I appreciate your interest. :) I have not had a chance to run the THH outdoors as it would not finish in time at my latitude. She finishes quick for a haze. Harvested at 78 days flowering with a 11/13 day/night light cycle. I might take a cutting longer, but i found her hightype to be very kind and energetic, but not jittery. Wonderful music making stuff. She turned colors that i had not anticipated giving how green she was at even into 2 weeks of flowering.

If i can i might run her in a light deprivation enclosure as she would have to finish here by 3 week of september to more realistically offer a chance of preceding the first frost.

  5. [IMG] Howdy howdy there JT.
I'm pleased to have you glancing in. Thank you very much for the time.

The rapport my plants and i have has been getting better in waves. The amount of fortune i have had receiving many tester high quality beans from friends and breeders has been immense and i am grateful to the genuine people i have had a chance to trade knowledge and genetics with. It's really fun and inspiring to see the touch of breeders in their selections or lack thereof.

My job is to help steer things a little and since the soil seems to like my low tech approach the plants like to express how happy they are.

Out of my own meds currently, but this unnamed OD i received is good, if somewhat heavy in the eyes. Nice mood. :)

So here are some images of the Tom Hill Haze F2 female i have. That last picture was at day 73, so 5 or 6 days before harvest. Her colors as a live plant are very interesting to my eye.

Looks nice in here EyeC! Subbed! Welcome to GC! We can always use more no-tillers around here. I enjoy watching how people adapt it to their own needs and available ingredients.
    Lovely looking sativas! :yummy:

  8. hey EyeC! i love Tom Hill but you won't find much of him around here. maybe we can change that. i love seeing pics of his Deep Chunk. i'm really glad you got some individuality going on your thread. makes it interesting! you plants look great too! glad you made it here.

  9. :D Thanks mainah! Feeling comfortable in these parts so far. Very knowledgeable and compassionate crew. Adaptation is what it's all about. Use local when at all possible. :) Please do add in whenever you feel like or ask questions. Some of my thinking is a bit eccentric i admit, but i do try to look out for everyone's best interests.

My sativa collection is what i will be doing my best to expand from here on out. There are some gene lines that have proven themselves to me in terms of quality and number of keeper plants and many more that have been recommended to me. I'll be seeking those recommendations out. :)

That THH has a delicious taste in the vaporizer or pipe. Although vaporizers wins it on this one for me. Has a nice spicy flavor with citrus and mint highlights. It's more complex than that, but i will have to wait till i have more to smoke to give a more detailed review. The BBB #1 is an intermediate hybrid for me. She has enough sativa effects to keep me interested, but also a good bit of body high to her as well. Actually the THH does as well, but in a more directly energized way. Both with good to excellent euphoria.

  10. Funny you should mention that. Sadly this is the last and only representative i have of his work in terms of sativas. I do have a Deep Chunk X GDP cross my friend made that i have yet to test though and i did run a Chunky Cherry Malawi a few years back. CCM = Cherry Malawi (Rev) X Deep Chunk (TH) cross was done by Rev and his then co-worker. You could see the DC in the cross for sure, but that Malawi made for some very unique honeysuckle flavors and smells. Yum.

The THH has been something special so far and i am waiting for a few good males to show up to get some crosses going as i think she will be a very nice mother.

thank you for steering me over here LLB. Very kind of you. [IMG]
It's nice to hear that my thread has some flavor of its' own going on. [IMG] If i can add diversity, then i feel somewhat better about my participation in this sacred calling.

  11. You're welcome. I think you'll enjoy it here. Thanks for spotting me over there. Always a pleasure to lure folks over yonder.

  12. Mornin EyeC! I have a couple crosses going right now with deep chunk in it. Heard good things. Garden looks real nice man! Keep it up.

  13. I try to keep an eye out for the interesting geeks. ;) Lure away with your sirens song of soil. //static.grscty.com//public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.png This is a great site for the most part so far.

GTG! [IMG] Drop in for some tea and crumpets. lol I ran that Chunky Cherry Malawi from Rev (KOS) a few years back and the Deep Chunk added lots of structural elements. I'll be checking out your thread more to keep aware of those DC crosses you've got. [IMG]

Allow me to introduce myself. //static.grscty.com//public/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.png

    Updates

Teenagers around 56 days from germination. These pictures were taken 20 minutes after lights went off and had started drooping by then.
    Tahoe-ogk) X Afghani -

Her stem rub smell is enticing as well. Very tight structure.

Goji OG F2 She looks like she will be a worthy plant.

[DDT (Thai pheno)- 4WE] X Blueberry Blast(Snowhigh) -- She has a nice wild look to her and the smells are strong and complex already.

  15. mornin eyeC! man, you have got a lot of interesting flavors you are working with. many strains I have never heard of. excited to watch them grow up and take form!

how many have you grown from KOS? Haven't seen very many people growing The Rev's gear.

  16. i didn't even know the rev had gear!? lol Each forum has their preferred lusted after strains. Deep Chunk by Tom Hill is widely used for breeding because it has very old genetics of indicas. it gets COVERED in frost and really just sounds like the genetics i want. someday perhaps. Tom Hill is pretty well known at IC along with some other breeders that some folks are not so fond of like verdant green. :( you probably didn't know that EyeC. i was pretty shocked myself. Tom Hills watering method really helped me learn how to water right. i give it all the time and it helps a lot of folks.

i just got done writing about the elaine lecture part 1 & 2. when you have time EyeC, you should stop by and read it. microbes make me all excited now. [IMG]

  17. Mornin' :)

I have had the pleasure of growing some of Rev's work and his former, now estranged, partner greenman. My experiences with KOS seed were very good for the most part. Got some good advice when i was transitioning from liquid organics over to TLO, which greatly improved my results at the time. Rev was also very generous and sent me seed when i had none.

Acting as a tester of sorts i grew the COG (C-99 X Tahoe OG Kush), Chunky Cherry Malawi, and CBR1947 from Rev and a related, but separate cross from G-man using different parents.

The COG ended up being a very productive plant that was a pretty good indica leaning gene line in my experience. Flavors was all there, but the hightype wore out quick and the plants stems were quite floppy later into flower. In part due to the very productive flowers though. //static.grscty.com//public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png

The Chunky Cherry Malawi was grown under less than ideal conditions and ended up fighting off russett mites at the end of flowering. It was a great line and i would run it again. The smells and flavors were very honeysuckle on the most Malawi pheno and the hightype was balanced, but quite strong. It would lay some people out for the first hour or so. lolz One of my phenotypes went 74 days into flowering, but the smell was honeysuckle all the way.

Can't say enough good stuff about the CBR1947 that Rev did. Out of 6 females i had two very respectable keepers with strong berry and musky/citrus smells and a high type that people still talk about even if they only had it once or twice. Very kind and well rounded. Rev's version was very medicinal and i look forward to when he releases it again with similar parents. One or two late flowering bananas showed up, but those plants did not have the high i was looking for anyways.

Although i have diverged somewhat from Rev's growing philosophies i respect the work he has done and i can recommend him as both competent and ethical.

  18. Let me know if you want more backstory on any of the plants i showcase. I do my best to be thorough, but there are many pieces of information to keep together.

  19. seedling updates. between 16-18 days old. I forgot one pair of seedlings. Berry Juice X Bluemoonshine F1.

Trueblueberry selected F-gen "Purple Menace" showing a little color already.

    Blue Zorilla F1

DDT (Durban pheno) X Blueberry Blast F1

Sourbubble Blueberry X California Purple Haze F1

  20. Here is my Tom Hill Haze "Purple Phoenix" cut. She does not seem to exhibit as much stretch as one might expect in such a sativa, but her growth is comparatively compact.
