Help. Dont know what to do.

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Jill65, Oct 4, 2015.

  1. Once I transplanted my seedling Hindu Kush into a 10 inch container and no shock was evident I began to follow the fox farms feeding cycle. Started with the big bloom and plant thrived. I had the watering down to where I watered every 2 days, so the plant was getting food twice a weeK, just like the chart told me to do. On the third week I added the grow big with the big bloom like the chart told me to do. Now look at it. I believe it is nutrient burn. When plant needed water I flushed 1 gallon of distiller water thru it. Help! How do I make the leaves dark again? Will I lose all these leaves?

  2. Are you watering with distilled water when you use nutrients as well? Fox farms nutrients lack cal-mag and if you are using distilled water then your plants may not be getting enough.

  3. Try this. Good luck

  4. I think Tony and jay are right, its either a cal mag issue, or a ph issue. The purple stems, the yellowing, and curling leaf tips. As tony explained/showed you if your ph is off it will not allow your plants to get the correct amounts of nutrients needed for the plant to be at its best. If you asked me for my opinion I'd say its most certainly a cal mag issue, but ph could be causing your issue.

What can you do about it?
Buy General Hydroponics pH Up/pH Down, and General Hydroponics CaliMagic. You need to figure out what your pH is and then go from there. I would also suggest buying a digital pH meter because reading the up/down test kit can be kinda confusing... I just got it myself and I am having a bit of a hard time matching up colors. :'(

    If you can't...
Just let it keep growing, I had pH issues my first two grows which gave me a cal mag issue. I let my plants finish and I got 2+ ounces from my pants, they're just 60 day autos though, and I always chop a little bit early. They'll make it but next time plan ahead.

You can try to use molasses and epson salts but I am almost sure you'll have to take care of your pH first if you haven't been monitoring it. I tried and it didn't work due to my pH being off.

I'm no expert, I'm just a beginner like you so if someone else comes along who has more experience growing than me then I would suggest listening to them but I believe they'll tell you the same thing everyone else has already told you. If you're not sure about the products you need, ask me and i'll link you to amazon.com to get the products you need.

  5. thanks for your diagnosis. Looks like I need to purchase a ph reader. I normally don't use distiller water, but I was hoping it would cleanse it of an overdose of nutrients. But who knows It can be lacking certain nutrients. Grow and learn!

  6. Pretty sure if your giving it 100% strength according the the fox farms feeding chart your over feeding it by pretty much a lot too and that can cause lock outs as well. Unless there's no ferts in the soil your using you don't feed for a couple of weeks after you transplant too. Just not a great idea. I find over feeding real easy with fox farm, im using it too. I do use cal-mag plus once in a while too though.

  7. So what do you suggest. Keep flushing, use a cal-mag plus? Looked at it this morning and it's getting worse. wtf? It,s the only one I have. Can I stll clone from this plant, or am I s.o.l?

  8. I'm a noob too but what i would do is flush it with 6.5 ph water use 1.5 to 2x the gallons of your pot. after that maybe give it one more regular watering when it dries then resume the nutes at 1/2 strength. That's pretty much how you reset your soil. The damage that's been done is done but i did the same things pretty much and they can recover. You have to ph the water, you just have to. Don't ph the run off it's lower and will confuse you probably. If you can get a ppm tester it helps a lot too to determine how much the plants are actually eating.

  9. I am the biggest boob..... I mean noob. What is ph water?

  10. It's measuring the acidity of the water you feed your plants. For soil, the sweet spot is around 6.8. This is achieved with products called Ph up and Ph down which can be added to adjust the Ph of your water AFTER all additives are put in it.

Add your food and whatever your putting in your water, Ph it to 6.8 and you're golden.

Different methods have different Ph sweet spots so make sure you're using the correct guidelines.

Do me a favor and run through the stickies at the top of the beginners forum. Lots of good information in there.

  11. Sounds like you need to do some serious reading up on the growing process and how to do it. That's the whole point of getting your info beforehand and having some kind of an idea of how this is done. It's a bit more complicated than throwing seeds in a pot and walking away. No nutrients should've been needed for a couple to 3 weeks after repot. That soil your using has all the nutrients your plants will need until they have time to use it up....at which point you DO need to start nutrients. Better get yourself a ppm pen so you can continue to make sure you don't fry your plants once they actually need feed. Good luck! TWW

There's all kinds of information on how to use them and the numbers you should shoot for at what stage of a plants life all over this forum, youtube and many other places too all you have to do is look them up. You also need to look up flushing because salts from some ferts will build up and kill your plants if you don't flush them a couple times during your grow.

  13. At the beginning I did do some serious reading. Too much, started to over think it. So I Started to read the plant and not the bible so much. For my first plant, I believe I was doing pretty good. When I purchased my fox farm products the sales person printed out the feeding schedule for me and talked me through the process. Guess I should of done excessive reading on the topic before I followed the chart. I guess that's why I joined the forum, to GROW and LEARN. Thanks for being here!

  14. I did the same thing man, i over fed, fed to early had to flush. . . all of it and look at today. These guys here on this forum are at least in part responsible for these not being dead plants. You just have to sort the info you get out for your individual circumstance. I think they'd be dead without the help i got on this forum. Really don't doubt it. Now i'm just counting the future ounces! [IMG]

  15. Haha been there man, i just said fuck it one day, how hard could it be right? The experience even in a bit of failure is well worth it though.

If I've learned anything its that these are generally resilient plants and you basically have to TRY to kill them lol.

You're on the right track with listening to your plants, they'll all be different and speak to you different. But the knowledge is the foundation of that relationship. Gotta understand what they're saying first and foremost.
