So I started consuming weed a month or two ago, and I immediately bought a VaporFi Orbit. It's served me well thus far, but I have a few qualms with it that make me want to buy another.

    - the chamber is small so it can become cramped. The quality of the vapor varies quite a bit session to session.
    - it smells. A LOT. I don't expect an odorless vaporizer, but this one smells 100% of the time, even after it's been cooled down. Problematic in a dorm room.
    - difficult to clean. The little brush does fuck-all to get the gunk out of there and I'm afraid to use water.
    - I'm not really sure but I think it sometimes combusts.

Other than that I really love it, and I don't regret the purchase. But I am looking for something that can be a little better than this.

    What I mostly want is:
    - ability to be passed around easily since I usually vape with 2-4 people. Unless there is a desktop vape that is really worth it of course.
    - less latent smell. I don't expect an odorless vape, but again, the orbit is VERY smelly.
    - ability to vaporize kief is a plus! Not sure if this really exists lol.
    - ease of use/easy to learn (for my friends) is a plus.

That's pretty much it honestly. I don't need or care much about the style or the looks, just ease of use and quality of vapor. My budget is around $100-150, but I will push it to $200 if it's truly worth it! I was looking at the old faithful MFLB, but I'm not sure if there are better options. Thank you!

I've used the Pax 2 for 8 months.

-Can be passed around easily. Detects when it's in your hand and keeps the oven hot enough to vape but not enough to burn (this is the BEST part about this vape). When you set it down it goes blue and cools down the oven enough to not waste bud, but hot enough to allow it to heat up to max in 10 seconds.

-Smell isn't terrible. There's a radius of a foot or two around the Pax 2 that stinks of vaped bud, but it's small enough to put in a ziplock and the Pax 2 cleaning kits come with a ziplock to prevent smell. Even then, it really isn't that smelly (though the vapor on max stinks of course).

-Can vaporize kief. Stick it in the oven and you'll get wrecked.

-Literally the easiest vaporizer ever. Has one button on the top: one press to turn on, hold down for 2 seconds for heat settings. 4 heat settings ranging from downright cold to a furnace. Completely regulates touch to give you an easy as fuck device to use. Sensors on the lip area which heats the oven up at that exact moment to give you more vapor without wasting it. Touch sensors which automatically turn off and cool the device down (the time is perfect too!). The best part? You can literally never burn bud in a Pax 2. The heat sensors just don't allow it. I've had the MFLB for 4 months and it had such a steep learning curve that I didn't even master it by the time I chucked it.

-Chamber is huge and welcomes tight packs.

Oh, and the Pax 2 is charged on a tiny charger using a micro usb instead of MFLB batteries which can be dangerous and a massive pain in the ass to charge.

All in all, expensive but a friend for life.

  3. The more I think about it the more I realize I can't get a desktop vape because I will eventually go home, lol. So the Pax 2 sounds very good, but it has quite a hefty price tag on it. How easy is it to clean? And how fine does the bud have to be ground to work well?

A lot of people complain about cleaning the Pax 2, which I don't understand. I've chain vaped 5 packed ovens in a day and didn't notice a change in draw or taste. All you need are pipe cleaners and tissue paper. Take the lid off (it's a big of plastic that fits snug on the top), wipe with tissue paper. Go into the oven and pry the screen off with a knife or whatever you have. Run a pipe cleaner through the hole and up through the top. For some reason it's really satisfying to see a pipe cleaner go into the tiny hole, push it through and see it pop out dirty which of course means the inside is clean. You can also get reclaim off the pipe cleaner, which is clean because it's just bud and no combustion is used. Bud can be ground like you normally would, but of course as with every vaporizer, the finer the better.

  5. And if by "go home" you mean your folks, I vape with the Pax with parents in the house literally all the time. Window cracked and in my pocket, the smell is gone in 5 mins max so great for fooling pesky parents!

    2015 Arizer Solo $130

Its kinda bulky but its extremely reliable. Battery last about 8-12 sessions (total of about 3 hours). Cleaning it is extremely easy that a 6 year old could do it. It has 8 different heat settings that range from 122F - 410F. WONT combust. Only takes 2-3 minutes to heat up. The unit itself is extremely durable and comes with a warranty. It holds about .5 at the max. and it can do hash.

I vaped inside the house on vacation with the girlfriends entire family and no one noticed. setting 4 (383F) and below dont smell that much and just crack a window.

The solo can produce great vapors almost as good as desktops and the glass taste the best also. The solo can also be connected to water bongs and you can also buy aftermarket stems for it and whips.

Learning to use the vape only took me 5 minutes. Its super simple. Press up and down buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to turn it onand then you just adjust it to the temp you want. After 12 seconds it automatically shuts off but you can turn it right back on ( i usually do that several times). Great for group usage. Just pass it and hit it kinda like a j, Then 12 minutes later stir it and turn it back on and pass it again.

I highly recommended it,especially for you needs and your budget.

    ................

If the Solo is too bulky then look into the Arizer Air $170ish

  7. What do you guys think in terms of Pax 2 vs Arizer Solo or Air?

  8. The Pax 2 has portability on its side but overall i think the solo and air are better for the money.

If portability was your #1 concern id say Pax.

    Best value id say Solo.

Most Proven/ Reliable is the Solo.

    ETC...

Op, List your 3 Main concerns.

  9. I don't really care about portability as long as I could reasonably fit it in a backpack, which all 3 of those models seem to fit the bill for. I could buy the solo or maybe even air right now but I'd have to save up for the Pax 2. Do you think that the extra bonuses for the Pax 2 (like the mouth detection and all that jazz) is worth it? I've also read the Pax 2 is not very economical on weed

  10. Personally i wouldn't buy the pax. Even if the air cost as much as the pax id still rather have the air. I already own a solo and i can vouch for it 100%.

  11. You've read correctly.

With all the ones that you've been mentioning, I'd go with the Air.

  12. Okay so I narrowed it down to the Air vs the Solo. Since I already have a vape pen that I could potentially use if I was "on the move" and I will primarily be using it sitting in my dorm room, do you think it's worth getting the Air over the Solo? It looks pretty damn nice.

Also - how much do the two smell would you say? Looking at the ventilation holes it looks a lot like my vape pen so I'm afraid it'll smell a lot too

  13. I had to make that decision 3 months ago. I went with a solo because i already had enough money for the solo. And battery life was a major thing for me. I heard the air's battery doesn't last that long, even though you can buy extra batteries i didn't want more things to worry about when i'm on the move. There is also more aftermarket parts for the solo.

The only big thing the air has over the solo is portability. I'm pretty Vapor quality and efficiency is about the same.

If you don't have the money for the air and portability isn't a big thing for you then id say solo.

My solo doesn't smell that much. I can vape a temp 4 (383F) and the smell will only linger for about a half hour, even less if your window is open. Vapor doesn't stick to things, it dilutes in the air to the point where its almost nonexistent. Its also a faint smell, definitely not the same as smoking. The hotter you vape the more it smells. If i vape on temp 2 (265F), then it barely smells at all and the smell goes away very quickly. With the 2015 model you can use the vape when its on the charger and they also improved the vapor flow so there isn't as much resistance as older models.

At the lower temps do you still get good vapor quality though?

Edit: the air is only $20 more at aroma-tek so I'm just going for that.

  15. When i bought my solo it was $130 and the cheapest i could find an Air was $180 at the time. But good for you man!

Yeah i still get good vapor quality at low temps. The vapor isn't as thick but you still get high as shit. Your highs are also different depending on temperature. The taste is also better around lower temps, in my opinion at least.

  16. I wouldn't recommend the flowermate v5. I bought it, used it carefully and after three months it stopped working. I dont know if it's a battery problem or something else. When I sent an e-mail to the company, they didn't even answer it.So, yeah, bad choice IMO

  17. Go for the Solo for home use.
Go for the Air when you're on the go.

  18. I am a pad fan. The pax2 has a bigger oven, not a selling point for me at all. It has served me flawlessly, easy to use and clean, and has the temp settings. Cool thing too...it goes to sleep when sitting too long with no usage. Customer service is impeccable.

  19. imo the vape market is kind of fucked. Unless you pay 150$ or more for some severely over-priced piece of equipment, your going to get a cheap, may or may not work, vape that might have problems when you get it. It might be broken. Its not gonna full fill any needs that someone uses it for. etc... con after con. bad review after bad review.

    what the fuck dude hahaha
The only reason i say this is because i needed a vape, and im not rich as fuck. I cant afford to pay close to 300 dollars for a nice vape that i know will work well and probably pay for itself eventually. So i had to find cheaper vapes, or anything on sale, that wasnt filled with bad reviews. Ive had the mflb before when it came out. Excellent vape. just too much work involved for it to be comfortable for me. The batteries always die fast. Why should i have to spend extra money for the wall adapter? fuck that.
I ended up getting a Titan 1. The titan 2 was cheap, but had a shit load more bad reviews. The titan 1 seemed to jst be a 50/50 chance either the one you get works 100% or its broken already before u even open the box. But from the positive reviews it seemed nice.

I literally only need a vape for, not smoking, and using the avb for edibles. Everything else is a waste imo. idc about portability or smell or anything. As long as it functions properly and i get some nice avb out of it, im happy.
but yea..idk. hte market seems kinda fucked to me. imo

  20. When i first entered the world of vaping i bought the Puffit X because it had good reviews and it was $120. Those reviews were bullshit scams. Even some forums said good things about them but the unit still sucks.

My friend has an arizer solo and i loved that things because it got me higher than my bong. So the next time i bought a vape i decided i would look into the Arizer Brand. i considered the SSV but it was out of my budget. Both of them have many many great reviews on all the forum websites. I ended up getting my EQ for $150 with warranty. And a couple months ago i bought my Solo for $130 with warranty.

Some of my friends cut corners because they weren't patient enough to save some money, and bought vape pens with dry herb tanks. They sucked terrible. Hugely disappointed.

If you REALLY want to vape then take a tolerance break and use the money you save to buy a vape.
