Real Talk: how much has smoking fucked with our lungs?

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Larry Sellers, Oct 2, 2015.

  1. sup blades. You remember seeing pictures of cigarette smokers lungs in health class, they are black as fuck and all sorts of messed up. How much do you guys reckon constant heavy pot use hurts our lungs? I've been smoking 2-3 grams a day for a long time (over a year), and I wonder how badly I've hurt my lungs. Weed paralyses the little hairs inside your lungs that clean them (celia maybe?) for less time than tobacco smoke, so there is that. On the other hand though, I usually dont go 12 hours without smoking so idk if they even have time to clean my lungs.

I also constantly an coughing/spitting out black phlegm. Does this happen to you guys as well? I'm not really worried about permanent damage, if I stopped i would be surprised if they weren't 100% in a month or so

  2. i've been smoking grass for 16 years and have never once coughed up black plegm. you should probably do something about that

  3. yea they have some tar, yea if you quit sooner the better. But if you smoke heavily I would recommend stopping by 25, or sooner. If you are smoking past 30 you are just asking for cancer, also if you smoke heavily, so have your fun. I smoked heavily and I was exposed to asbestos once or more at work, I know I will die from it.

  4. The biggest difference between the two plant matter substances you inhale is chlorophyll. Smoking weed is like smoking green vegetables so your lungs absorb the vitamins and minerals just the same. Open up a cigarette and see what's inside and then you will realize why your lungs turn dirty brown. The bleached white paper doesn't help at all either.

  5. Cigs are far worse than Ganja. THC fights inflammation and some studies say it helps strengthen lung tissue. But smoking as much as your smoking isn't good. I recommend you buy a vaporizer for your herb. My Lungs thank me every time i use my vape. I used to smoke about a half g a day with my bong at night and about a year of doing that my lungs just felt dirty. I can use my vape multiple times a day and still feel great. I HIGHLY recommend a vaporizer.

I used to smoke good pipe tobacco out of a bong and i could always feel it was worse than ganja. But one time i took one of my friends cigs (Never Tried Cigs) And i opened it up so i could try out the tobacco in cigs to see how it compares. HOLY SHIT IT WAS NASTY! I couldn't clear it and my lungs felt so shitty. There' like a half gram in every cig.

Cancer is never caused by just one thing. Most people that get lung cancer from weed also smoke cigarettes. But don't forget that your cell phone is slowly giving you cancer as well.

  6. You also have to account for the fact that the average cigarette smoker smokes far more cigarettes than the average weed smoker smokes weed

  7. 30% of all cig tobacco in a regular cig is recycled from old stock returned (reclaimed tobacco), and about 10% is waster or factory scraps (reconstituted tobacco, also found in cheap cigar paper).

  8. tobacco leaves also contain chlorophyll, and are the same color after harvesting.

Tobacco is typically cured in heat to turn brown, because tobacco leaves contain a lot of water. Think of how a plant wilts.
Burning a fresh tobacco leaf would be like putting a fresh cannabis leaf but more oily and wet.
This is why most tobacco is brown regardless of price additives or anything else.

White cigarette paper is probably better than brown recon paper(less additives), but there is not much difference.

  9. Ive been smoking 15 yrs and get a full checkup with chest xrays every three months for 6yrs now.. They are always totally clear and I've smoked the night before I went in

  10. Smoking this much of anything is not good for you, the black phlegm should be the clue.

  11. *seeing black lung pictures of 30-40+ year pack a day cigarette smokers. Not advocating that cigarettes are good but let's call it what it is

  12. If smoking past 30 is asking for cancer then why has no one ever got cancer from soley smoking cannabis then?

  13. A lot of people smoke way more than him with no adverse effects. So don't come on here with that flawed logic. The black phlegm is from something else, if it be shitty bud or an environment factor but its not from the little 3 grams a day he smokes

Please tell me what studies you are referring to? I am not trying to give pot a bad name, but if people are to have conversations of pot use, then we ALL need to be realistic on its dangers. To ignore them is senseless, sorry but smoking 3 grams or whatever long term is not good for you.

It only makes common sense that anything burned then inhaled will eventually lead to breathing issues if done often enough over a long enough period. Ask any medical Doctor and they will agree more with me than you on this issue.

  15. Have you tried not inhaling the ashed out bowl? Might do wonderds for you

I know I certainly notice more congestion in my airways when I'm smoking more than an eighth a week or so. But, I also notice things clear up entirely in about 5-7 days of no smoking. I don't think you could say the same for cigarettes.

  17. been smoking for over 4 years

i can still a run a mile in less than 8 min.

i can bench about 155 right now (been lifting for about a year now)

heck, i go longboarding right after HUGE BONG RIPS !

    cheers.

  19. That's your argument? Seriously. One person does not make definitive answer to anything, it's one person. I've known people literally smoke cigs at 90 on their death bed. My mother in law died at 57 from smoking cigs. George Burns smoked daily until 99. None of those gives a real answer as everyone is different.

Again, That link is not a study. Apparently you don't have a clue what a study is.

I'm out, however we can agree to disagree.

  20. you're a big boy you can look up peer reviewed studies on your own or do I need to get granny in here? Lol
