Is Silica The Answer For Weak Stems and High Temps?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by SlightlyStonedSD, Oct 1, 2015.

  1. I grow indoors, in soil, under a scrog net. The net does a good job of supporting the branches but I still get stems flopping over from the weight of the buds. I use RO water, Fox Farm trio plus cal mag and I'm thinking of adding Botanicare Silica Blast this grow. I also tend to have high temperatures which it claims to help with.

    Questions are:

Is Silica the answer for weak stems?

and does it help with high temps?

    Thanks.

  2. How high do your temps get? I'm still a beginner but Iv used exactly the nutes your using including the silica. I have a constant temp in my flower tent of 83 to 85f with spikes upwards of the low 90s. Iv never had any signs of stress related to heat and my stems seem skinny but they're holding up some nice thick heavy buds right now lol so I definitely think it does help to add it in

  3. Yeah my temps are about the same. I've had a few good harvests like this so it's not horrible (depending on strain). But if silica helps and it's not expensive to add i'm all for it. Thanks for your post.

  4. I heard agsil-16 is super cheap. Its silica in powder form I believe but you get a pound for like 12 dollars and was told it will make way more than a bottle of liquid silica that cost the same price. That might be something to look into, I know I am lol
