Hello, this my first auto grow, it is part of the Vaults Comparative grow.
I received the AxT on 9/03/15. Did not get to germinate until 9/27/15 .So day 1
Day 3 : 9/29/15 Both sprouted with nice tap roots. I put them in soil to start growing.
I mixed 50% Recipe 420 soil by E.B. Stone, 25% E.B. Stone EWC, and 25% Black Gold Perlite.
    I
used RO water and a lentil SST to dampen the soil to a moist but not
too wet. I decided on 2 gallon pots to grow in with a layer of small
stones and perlite for drainage on the bottom.
The baby AxTs were planted about a 1/4 inch deep and covered with soil and a dusting of EWC.
    I
watered around the AxT babies with 2 ml of lentil sst. I'll mist the
soil with water as needed until they break through the soil.
I' will be using 8 100 watt CFLs, 4 per plant with more to be added.. I bought a 150watt CFL
for vegging but the damned thing was a dud. I'll have to take it back
and get another one. For the 1st day and night I am using a 65 watt grow
bulb that has a blue spectrum.
Any advice is appreciated. Loki, ladyluckybean, and giMiKs threads have a lot of top notch information in them.
Since nutes are not needed yet, I'll wait to post what I will use.
    Happy Growing earl 100_1898.JPG 100_1899.JPG

    Day 4
    baby aliens have not
broken through the soil yet. I misted with water and will check on them
every couple of hours to moisten the soil.
    I decided to name them,
one is to be Star Child - Noquisi a-yo-li and Hummingbird - wa-le-li
as soon as they break soil I'll post pictures..

    Day 6
This if my lil AxTs. lots of stretch due to the light they are under. Seems no one in this town has 100 watt 6500K cfls.
I'm still misting the soil with water only around the babies. I'll thaw out some sst to use on them tomorrow. I have Barley SST with Coconut Water and Lentil SST with Coconut water.
My nutes arrived this morning. I'll use them along with SSTs as needed.

  5. inthelooperton Thanks for subbing up !

  6. Day 6 - part 2

I picked up the 100 watt 6500k cfls earlier this evening.

I was able to place them closer to the baby aliens, hopefully this will stop the stretch of the stems.

I mixed more soil ,EWC, and perlite. to top off the settling. (I added extra perlite). the extra mix covered about a 1/3 of the stem more. This should make it more sturdy , I'll watch it so they don't dampen off.

the baby AxTs seem to like the new lights and the other inch or so of soil I add to the containers. They were perky this morning when I checked on them.
Good idea or bad idea, I used a pencil to poke holes around the soil about 2 inches from the stem and about 2 inches deep. I used a watered down Lentil SST to feed/water the lil ones. My thinking is that the newly forming root system will seek out the water.
Since this is a Comparative grow what can it hurt ?
The baby aliens are in a make shift nursery until the bag seed photos finish in the DIY cabinet. I'll draw up a schematic of what I made out of scrap wood I had laying around.
I'll also try to get a picture, but it's tucked away in tight spot.

  10. Stardate 93360.44Day 8

Baby AxTs are doing well. I misted the top of the soil with RO water this morning.
I have not had to raise the lights yet, I take this as a sign the roots are establishing.

  11. Im here earl!

  12. Stardate 93365.68Day 10 (and 9)

I didn't get a chance to update yesterday, so today is double.
Looks like another set of leaves are growing. This is a good sign !
I did not mist with water last night, I figured that letting the lil ones dry a bit would be ok.
When I water later today it will be with some Lentil and Barley SST that I made ice cubes out of. It is easier to make a batch, freeze it and use when needed.
I finally ordered a 60X loupe to check the trichromes on the bag seed photos that are in the stealth cabinet. Hopefully they are close to finishing. It will be 10 weeks as of 10-09-15, plus a week since flipping to 12/12.
Many Thanks to all that stop by to read my journal.

Baby AxTs are doing well. I watered with more Lentil SST today after I poked holes in an inch or so circle around them. I'll mist the top soil this evening with RO water.
I am in the process of making a corn SST to use along with the Lentil and Barley SSTs, it should be done by tomorrow evening.
I'll get pictures of the baby aliens to post in a bit.

  15. Stardate 93371.52Day 12

The baby AxTs look well today, I misted with RO water and rotated the pots a 180 degrees.
Looks like another set of leaves are forming.

  16. Subbed up man, just realized this thread existed! i'm a creature of habit and normally lurk the same journals....but gotta show some love for the AxT grow, and your DIY attitude.

Thanks MimTowls, the wife thinks I'm crazier than I was. I explain to her how much the DYI is compared to going out and buying pre-made store stuff then its OHhhhhh ... oh ok. LOL

She does like the cannabis cream and rubs I make for our injuries.
    Thanks NoMidZone

  19. I scored these CFLs at Costco this morning. On sale and after in store
rebate $1.49 per 3 pack. I bought 4 packs-12 bulbs. Now the baby aliens
will have some light during flower. I'll try to find a few 150 watt 6500K to add for a mixed spectrum.
