At least 700 dead in Mina, Saudi Arabia

1. thiSaudi Arabia's civil defense says that at least 717 pilgrims have died on Thursday when a stampede broke out in the city of Mina, reported Al Arabiya News.

At least 863 others were injured in the crush at a crossroads on Street 204 at the camp city at Mina, a few kilometres east of Makkah, the Saudi civil defence said.

Al Arabiya News Channel's correspondent Abdulrahman Al-Osaimi reporting from Mina emergency hospital said the stampede happened near entrance of the Jamarat Vridge near Street 204, and not inside of the Jamarat area where the stoning pillars are situated.
At a press conference after sunset prayers, Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki told reporters that the street at which the stampede took place "witnessed unprecedented high number of pilgrims" compared to previous years.

Since this seems to happen fairly often with large religious pilgrimages, what do you think should be done to stop this from happening in the future?

2. More prayer?

3. dont allow everyone in at the same time

4. Best chance at stopping it is to encourage it..

5. I've come upon 5 or so articles talking about this and they all mention "stampede kills 700 people" give or take without much detail.

1. Why are they stampeding?
2. How DO people get running and kill 700 others? Do they just run aimlessly stepping onto heads of others?
3. Isn't that Gee Oh Dee a rascal for allowing 700 of his most faithful to get trampled to death? Probably not, just working in mysterious ways as usual.

Reason number 79,251 to avoid crowds.

1. The pilgrimage is mandatory for able-bodied Muslims. Many of the dead came from poor countries and saved for decades to do this. Like any other large gathering of people, things can get disorganized and run behind schedule. So they started to panic they would not be able to finish in time and would miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
2. What I heard was that two large groups were heading in opposite directions and when the groups met, the people at the front of each line couldn't turn around and were pushed into each other by the weight of the thousands of people behind them. Also keep in mind it is 110-120 degrees, difficult to breathe in that heat, so if you pass out unconscious, you probably aren't waking up again.
3. This happened the same day Saudi Arabia sentenced a young man to crucifixion for "crimes" he committed as a 17 year old. Child crucifixion, maybe that caught God/Allah's attention in the wrong way?

and oh by the way

4. These stampedes happen frequently. This year's wasn't even the worst on record. The government has been blamed time and time again for negligence in not meeting basic public safety needs. But what can be done about it? It's not like the faithful have the choice to just go to some other Mecca.

and while I'm on the subject

5. Non-Muslims aren't even allowed to set foot in Mecca. So if I was like, "hey, Islam sounds pretty cool! I'd like to learn more about your religion and come see the Hajj for myself, in the interest of global peace and understanding!" I'd be shit out of luck.

7. This is obviously disinformation because any god would not let his followers succumb to such atrocities

8. Are you saying everyone just freaked out because they were running out of time, as in they'd close the gates on them or?

If that is the case, then the frantic drive to trample over people would be directly linked to the strength of the crowd's religious fervor. Considering the place, one would expect it to be full of hardcore believers, just like you'd expect the Vatican to be full of die hard Christians.

9. There are reports trickling in about a government cover up, that they had blocked off roads and gates to accommodate VIPs and that is why a large number of pilgrims were funneled into an area not large enough to contain the crowd.

Lebanon-based Arabic-language daily Ad-Diyar said in a report that the convoy escorting PrinceMohammad bin Salman Al Saud, which consisted of 200 army forces and 150 police officers, played a central role in the stampede. The report said the presence of the prince in the middle of the population prompted a change in the direction of the movement of the pilgrims and a stampede. The report further said that Mohammad and his huge entourage swiftly abandoned the scene, adding that the Saudi authorities seek to hush up the entire story and impose a media blackout on Mohammad's presence in the area.

The Saudi government made a statement brushing aside safety/negligence concerns, basically, "Oh, they were Africans and didn't know how to follow directions. Isn't it wonderful they died at hajj, what a blessing."

Oni~ I wouldn't blame this purely on religious fervor if I were you. People are also trampled to death at concerts, football games, protests, etc. Any time there is a large congregation of excited people, there is a chance something can go wrong.

10. I could care less if they kill each other in large quantities, regardless of how or why. In fact, have at it!

That religion is well poised to become a major plague on humanity. Let the blood of all the innocent men, women, and children that have been raped, tortured, and murdered while some religious zomby piece o' shit screams "Allahu Akbar" also be on the heads of everyone that defends or tries to minimize its atrocities.

11. Here's a take no MSM has brought up:

Hajj "stampede" caused by Saudi Prince security forces

UPDATE: It appears to me, with the way this is working out, that
the Saudi government might have intentionally caused this. Consider the
following two new items:

As I predicted, the death toll has now hit 2,000 and is still climbing

UPDATE: Despicable: Saudi army blocked all access to hospitals.
UPDATE: With 2,000 confirmed dead, some countries are reporting that
only 20 percent of missing people are accounted for, which means the
death toll could go much higher than 2,000. This is an impossible
scenario absent a massive panic - possibly caused on purpose.

If this was not done on purpose, then WHY would the Saudi military block access to hospitals?

UPDATE: Saudi prince that caused the stampede with his security forces controls the Yemen war!

Here is what happened -

Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud arrived at the site completely un
announced and confronted the crowd with an entourage of over 300 people,
150 of which were heavily armed security which beyond all doubt caused a
huge panic that made everyone run.

At the same time this happened, Saudi crowd control totally mismanaged
the situation, and ended up blocking off the exit route that over a
hundred thousand people tried to exit through. So over 100,000 panicked
people suddenly hit an impassable barrier while all running. Obviously
then, the ones in the front got crushed. And from how things look now,
even though the Sauds refuse to admit to a death toll higher than 717,
(after initially trying to whitewash it down to less than 200) it now
looks like the death toll is over 2,000, all because an idiot saudi
prince dropped into the middle of things un announced, caused mayhem,
and then freaked people out with a massive security force.

The zio press has made sure everyone elsewhere in the world thinks that
this event was caused by people being on a brainless dash to "stone the
devil" but now that the details are getting out, this was an oil money
problem, some rich selfish child obviously got enough of it to pay for
his own little army that scared the crap out of everyone.

On top of this, all the sauds appear to be doing is a whitewash rather
than try to help the injured. It took them two hours to arrive at the
scene and do anything at all, and when they did do something, rather
than help the injured, they started carting off dead bodies and let the
injured people lay on the pavement in the sun. So we probably will
never get a final death count - if they put that much priority into
carting off the dead, it probably means they wanted a cover up more than
anything else at first, and then encountered a huge problem - too much
to hide.

After combing through the comment sections and reading the posts of
witnesses, it appears that it took 2 hours for help to arrive ONLY
because everyone who initially came to help was diverted to protect the Prince that created the scare and caused it all! Even
today, the latest pictures, shows piles of bodies still mixed in with
suitcases and whatever else people were carrying, (even crushed wheel
chairs) which means the Sauds are clueless about the real death toll,
and these bodies are going to rot before they get them moved, the
response is THAT PATHETIC AND SLOW.

There is a huge amount of additional information on this topic (the above is a summary of many reports) HERE

12. That's harsh... most of the people killed were poor people from 3rd world countries, on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to their holy land. They were pawns in the game, not terrorist masterminds.

13. fuck that religion and all who are stupid enough to be its pawns.

14. Hajis gonna Hajj

15. The racism in this thread..
