First Grow Need Help With Trichomes (Pictures) Am I Ready To Harvest?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by ajm317, Sep 15, 2015.

  1. I am a first time grower and need some advice from some experts on whether or not I am ready to harvest. I have been told to check the color of my trichomes, through a magnification app on my smartphone (magnifying glass didn't do much), I was able to take these pictures. The trichs seem pretty cloudy and milky from what I could observe. Please check out the pictures and let me know what you think. The white hairs have mostly all turned amber and the plant has a strong scent. Looking for any advice and tips I can get! Thank you

  2. Hard to tell from those pics...gonna need a loop or pocket scope.
And dont go by the sugar leaves, look at the buds

  3. Your plants look ready bud. The hairs look very appropriate to harvest, The crystal looks appropriate. If you have a microscope you can check to see if the ball is three times larger then the stalk, but I never go by that. I check the plant to see enough hairs have turned brown and if the crystal on the plant is enough. Checking tricomes can be difficult because the ones nearest the light source can be over ready and the ones away from the light source can be under ready. So its really up to you when you take it. I also find if you take it early the stone is different then taking it later.

  4. Never go by the hairs, because old ones will turn brown and recede and new ones will. Take its place, but your plant could still be a month away from harvest, you are just cheating yourself out of a harvest
.it does not look like it is fully ready yet, but you need a better scope to check, I use a 50-100x to really see the glands. I harvest when at least half my glands are amber, and usually only harvest the top colas and let the smaller buds go another week or so because usually they won be as ready as the mains are
