CrazyTs First Coco Coir Grow [Your Experience Needed]

Discussion in 'Coco Coir' started by Crazyt, Sep 14, 2015.

  1. Hi there guys and girls,

recently finished a orangic soil grow with autoflowers, slightly disappointed in dry weights although aroma, taste and effect were all good plus the THC content was amazing for me... good medicinal properties. Link here http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-grow-journals/1...

So this time round i have decided to go Coco,

I would love to have a friend who would agree to help me through this if there was anyone out there?

I guess it would make me feel better to know i have someone who i can ask any question or for advice at last minute, ect.

I will be running 4-5 Little cheese autos again which are already in the paper towel method,

    My question now is,

    What nutes to use? Recommendations?

Easy to use nutes? other stuff i will need? Epsom Salts? Cal-mag?

I would be greatly appreciative for any response from a seasoned Coco grower,

    Thank you,

    Crazy-T

  2. For beginners. I'd go with canna or House & Garden. My plants have never done better. A-B nutes , Rhizotonic , Cal-mag . That's all you really need. I use House&Garden nutes. Canna Rhizotonic General hydroponics .. CalMag Canna PK 13-14 Canna Boost. Go go juice. Powdered seaweed. Nutriboost ( B vitamin ) Enzyme for breaking down old roots.( I used to use Cannazym. But after reading a thread from another member . Now use a pond enzyme . Much cheaper and goes a long way

  4. I'm sure that all those additives work for Bamboo but I would not suggest all that stuff for beginners. I suggest the K.I.S.S. Method. 7 grams of GH MaxiBloom in a gallon of tap water and that's all you need - doesn't get much simpler. I grow in a 50/50 coco/perlite mix using that method and I never have a problem - my plants are perfect from seedling to harvest. I used to add all that crap based on the manufacturers and other growers claims - waste of money. No need for a PPM meter. I don't even have a Ph meter - I use the GH drops and as long as it turns yellow - I'm good to go. Google the KISS method.

  5. Yeah I agree , keep it simple when starting. I wish I had of had Rhizotonic tonic when I first started out though, Cuttings , clones , young plants thrive on the shit. Also Canna Boost. This stuff make weed taste amazing . Any way plenty of time for Young Crazy T to work it all out . All the trials and tribations of growing this amazing plant. 🍻🍻. Cheers to that .!!!!

  6. Thank you very much indeed,

I wanted to pot them into coco yesterday but still in 2 minds what route to take as apposed to nutes.

Im just so unsure on PH and EC readings at this early stage?
Thanks Mick, thats great help for me,

I am indeed looking for the most simplist way of growing in Coco whilst im still learning the basics so maybe this method will suit my needs,

7 grams of GH maxibloom per gallon from seed to finish?

may i ask what roughly the PH reading of the "yellow" color in the chart is? as i got myself a PH meter and checked my tap water and its reading 7.5 which im assuming is way to high

Thank you very much for the info, really appreciated

7 grams per gallon is full strength - you want to work up to that gradually. I start with 1/8 strength, then 1/4, then 1/2 over the first month. The nice thing about coco is that if you notice a little burning on the tips from too high of nutes, you can back off a little and the fix is immediate. When you feed make sure you always have a little run off and remember this is not soil and should not be treated as such. With a 50/50 coco/perlite mix you can feed daily and it replenishes the nutes and fresh oxygen. I'm not sure exactly what the ph is when the tester turns yellow but it's in between 5.0 and 6.0. On the color chart - orange is 5.0 and light green is 6.0 - yellow is perfect. If you have a ph tester you want it around 5.8. The ph of my tap water is around 8.0 - when I use full strength nutes it makes the ph perfect without adjusting. Hope that helps. Ask if you have any more questions.

  8. Thank you very much,

i looked into the K.I.S.S method, unfortunately the Maxibloom is not in my country for sale :( and it will take a while via ebay...

so i will locate another nutes,

i have a slight issue, i tested my tap water for Ph and it reads 7.5 which is cool i brought it down to 5.6, but i tested my EC of tap water and its reading 0.8 without any nute ?

could you enlighten me on what i can do? as EC should be around 0.4 to start....

  9. There are alternatives to MaxiBloom. Google lucasformula.com and it will give you other products you can use. You can also use Canna Coco nutes - they work well and are made specifically for coco. I would try your tap water as is but if it's a concern for you then you can mix it half and half with r/o water.

  10. Gh flora nova grow/bloom plus cal mag has been working very well. Ph is very stable barely ever adjust it

  11. Or you can look up the ironh3ad method on here his formula is great it's just like the lucas formula but with some tweaks
