Hey guys! I'm starting my first grow and I would like to welcome everybody's thoughts on my setup. The goal is simple, to grow top shelf cannabis that is for personal use. The set-up 2 x 4 x 5 tent 4 inch kleen air carbon filter (rated for a 6 x 6 x 6 room) 4 inch inline exhaust blower with adjustable speed control, 190 cfm 2, 1 x 1 foot 420 W full spectrum grow lights (actual watts 180 - 350) on-hand supplies PH up and down Tiger bloom liquid CaMg+ Epsom salt Cloning gel, propagation trays, and rockwhool cubes perlite fine & course vermiculite Fox Farm Ocean Soil Crushed sea shells Jiffy mix seedling soil course sandOyster shells Genetics 10 Hindu Kush seeds 1 feminized blue cheese seed Just planted 4 Hindu kush seeds 1 feminized blue cheese seed used this for the soil I'm taking a solo cup and cutting a few small drainage holes in the bottom. I will then fill the cup with my soil. The soil recipe is 2/3 qt of jiffy mix and 1/3 qt of Fox Farm Ocean Forest as the base 2 cups of course verm 2 cups perlite 1/4 cup crushed oyster shells 1/4 cup course sand mix 1 tsp of epsom salts per gallon of soak water then do a hole 3/4 diameter. 1.25' deep in the center of the seed mix fill in the hole with verm and just let it wick the moisture then plant the seed like 3/8ths inch below the soil level and top with verm keep that shit barely damp and somewhat sterile want the soil to feel spongy and not soggy when wet
I have no idea. I hope they work at well. Spent nearly $450 after taxes for the two. They advertise at 1 x 1 foot 420 W full spectrum grow lights (actual watts 180 - 350) They have switches on the lights to so I can either turn on 2 lights during beg or all 4 lights during flowering. I have the one light on veg now and I can feel no heat from the light.
It's been less than 2 days and the feminized blue cheese seed has grown a 1 inch root and pushed its self to the top of the soil. I put some more soil on top of the seedling. Hope these Hindu Kush seeds are doing well. I really just want the kush. The blue cheese was a bonus
I hope you get success with the LED's I always found a nice 600 W HPS setup to do way better then the LED setups of similar wattage and at a lower cost.
I had to go go for the LED for electricity reasons. Think I will be able to grow high quality cannabis?
Figure on 100 watts per plant is a good starting point. So you want about 500 watts if you are running 5 plants
your set up looks really good. I'm not sure on the soil as I have never used that mix myself but everything else sounds good. Good choice of lights, well matched for the area. You could have had HPS though, a couple of 250w HPS, they would use just 500watts combined, so less than your LEDs that use 700watts combined. Much easier to manage the heat too, but don't get me wrong, I'm sure the LEDs will do you proud, I'm just replying to your electricity usage point
