Help 100x100x200cm grow tent

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by G26pickupsticks, Sep 5, 2015.

  1. Hey guys!
First time grower here so I apologies in advance for my noob questions and thank you for your patients.

I have a 100x100x200cm grow tent given to me by a friend who has moved overseas. I want to start growing medical herb for my epilepsy (the plan is to extract oil) but I have 0 experience in growing.

    My questions:

So as I said my grow tent is 100x100x200cm
1)What type of light and wattage should I use for my seeding/vegative?
2)Type of light and wattage for flowering?
3)What size fan and filter would be sufficient?
4)How many plants will I be able to fit in this space?

Anyone with experience I encourage you to reply :)

  2. This is what I would do with that tent.
1+2) 600w Digital ballast with air cooled hood - dimmable to 250w for veg.
    3) 6" Fan + carbon filter combo with a fan speed controller. Depending on the fan you get you'd run it at about 50-70% most likely, that way you can speed it up if you're having temp / smell issues.

    4) I'd put a 1mx1m scrog (will be awkward to work around in a 1mx1m tent but whatever), and 4 plants in a DWC tote. This one varies greatly so it really comes down to what you think you can handle though... Probably 4-6 plants in soil would be better.

In that space you can get away with 1 plant vegged for 2+ months, or 25+ plants with no veg so it's all about what you'd prefer to work with - Keeping in mind plant count affects your charge greatly if you're ever caught.

My advice would be try 4 plants under a 600w first. Keep two natural, and try some training like topping and LST on the other two for practice. Once you've grown even once, you'll have a really good idea of what you want to change next go around (and be warned that will never EVER end haha)

Definitely helped with my shopping list for the lighting and ventilation.

    Noob question time:
What is a scrog and a dwc tote?
    What is topping and lst?

Didn't get those last two paragraphs at all. So if I'm doing the 4-6 plants all growing at the same time and light cycles, there should be no issues? Or I only have room for 1 vegged plant? (Being a noob sucks and I apologize lol)
I'd be happy to work with 4-6 plants at the same time if possible.

Should have also mentioned in the op that this will be a soil grow and because it's for medicinal purpose I want to keep it as "organic" as I can for an indoor grow.

    Thanks again for the advice

  4. No worries man, happy to help.Don't worry about the DWC tote, it's only needed for hydro. I skipped soil and learned in hydro so I'm not much help on what soil and amendments are useful or pot sizes but there are plenty here who will chime in soon i'm sure.

A 'SCRoG' is a 'screen of green', basically just a mesh net that sits above the base of the plants to support the buds and keep an even canopy. It's also not required so if you want to keep it as simple as possible, don't even worry about this either.

Topping and LST are both just plant training methods. Topping involves removing top growth tip from the plant to force it to bush out wider instead of growing straight up, and LST (low stress training) achieves basically the same thing but instead of chopping the top of the plant off, you bend the top and tie it down so the plant is bent like over like a bridge almost. Lots of pictures and guides around on these two things so i'd definitely recommend trying one, or both. They make a dramatic difference to yield indoors.

As for the plant count, 4-6 would fit just fine. Basically the more plants you have, the less time you will spend vegging them. If you had one plant, you would need to veg for nearly 2 months before you started flowering. If you planted 9 in the same space, you could probably veg for about 2 weeks before flowering them and get the same result as the 1 plant. Not sure if you understand vegging and flowering and what not, if it's still not making much sense have a quick skim over some of the stickied posts in the beginner section (all posts up very top), they're filled with all the info you could need :).

  5. ahh yes I've heard of the "sea of green"
Just looked into the topping and LST and I'm definitely looking forward to trying out the LST.
Thanks for opening my eyes to that, you're a champion!

Hopefully an experienced soil grower can jump in. This forum is the best

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to soil but it is the only thing I have grown in. If your looking for a decent organic soil Biobizz light mix is great option and its fairly cheap, depending on location for delivery costs of course. The Biobizz All Mix is great too but it's got little too many amendments for seedlings, brilliant for transplanting into though.

The Organics section of the forums is a great place too you should check that out too sometime. Do you have an idea an what feeds you will be using yet?

  7. You'll never get anywhere listening to these people. Go educate yourself instead. Everyone on here has got something to prove.

  8. Cannasaurus X what feed would you recommend because that and pots are next on my shopping list.
Have you got any experience with "bag pots" the fabric ones?
I'm also thinking of using jiffy pallets and then going into a 3gal fabric pot instead of transplanting it and stressing the roots.
Keeping the tent size in mind what do you think?

I offered sound advice, and him asking questions is an attempt at educating himself. What exactly are you even trying to say? Your comment makes no sense with regards to what has been posted here. If you're saying me or Cannasaurus have offered shit advice, sack up and say that.

Also I actually said to check out all the stickies, so telling him that listening to me won't get him anywhere and then telling him to educate himself is contradictory. If I'm misinterpreting this please say so, but your post comes across as unhelpful and pretty bitchy. And judging by your sarcastic post from 9 minutes before this one, looks like you're in a bitchy unhelpful mood. Go smoke a bowl lol.

You guys have been helpful and he contradicted him self.

Willsr83 how long before you started the LST on this grow? Looks good :)

  12. Lmao...sorry, I'm just being a stoned ass.

  13. They have been giving you some sound advice

  14. So G26pickupsticks, have you decided what your going to grow in? Have you thought of growing in coco? I've grown in soil and coco, it's totally personal preference. But from my experience coco seems to be a little more forgiving when and if issue come up. Coco is hydro grow and very easy to control.

    Definitely a soil grow Trichuk
I ordered some auto flowering seeds and some regular fems but I think I'm going to try the auto flowering on my second grow.
What feeder did you use in your soil grow?
Also, is the jiffy pallets recommended in a soil grow or is that more of a hydroponic thing?

I didn't use jiffy pellets in any of my grows. I germinated them and put then right in to coco or soil. All I know about jiffy pellets is that they are mainly peat moss and have very little nutritional value, so they would be good to start a seedling in. You can use them for soil or hydro medium but wouldn't use with a DWC system. When I was in soil I didn't feed until it was time to flower, I used a 3gal planter with happy frog soil. The soil you get should do fine for nutrients until it gets to flower, then you want to boost it up with some nutes. A lot of people transplant in to new soil and use nutrients in the flower stage.

When I got to the flower stage I used Dutch nutrients.
What kind of feminized seeds did you get?

  17. Soil grow in 3gal fabric pots
Not sure what soil as I'm still researching it.
Was hopping to do the full grow from seedling to flowering all in the same pot without transplanting or changing soil
But it looks like I'll have to be changing the soil for the flowering.
Is it possible to keep the same soil for the whole grow and then just add what's needed to the soil during flowering instead?
Or is that a big no no?
Waiting for my cannabis encyclopedia to arrive so I can further educate my self.

I got O.G kush, Pineapple Express, purple kush and some white widow auto flower as a freebie.
I hear a strain called jack herer is the best for medicinal oil but it's an outdoor strain 😔
